  1. One, five; one, five; one, five. Hmm, maybe that’s just country music Basschatters (paraphrasing an old joke).
  2. Likewise. In fact, I switched from guitar to bass in the early ‘80s but then someone asked me play guitar in a new project, so I went back again (of course the band only lasted a short while 😠) and was then back in the 6 six string groove. I only really committed to bass at the turn of the century. Who knows what would be different if I’d stuck with it from the get go? Also, I would have liked to had the confidence to sing more back then, as it seems I actually have a half decent singing voice these days. However, I did make the change and I do sing now, so I should be content, after all, I could’ve never have done either.

    Preamp DI

MXR M80, no comp, but some gnarly, blendable distortion. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/07062712180828--mxr-bass-di-m80
  4. (Adopts movie trailer voice) “It’s a monster!” 😱
  5. I love it. Very clear and uncoloured to my ears. Takes emulating preamps very well (I use a VTDI) as well as pedals.
  6. I’m pretty sure the John East P preamp had that arrangement.
  7. Why not go for your namesake whilst Guitar Guitar are having a clearance at daft prices? https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/phil-jones/amps/bass/
  8. Right, stop this punning now, or I’ll give you all a pizza my mind!
  9. I saw Mo Foster break one back in the ‘80s when he was touring with Jeff Beck (awesome gig). If memory serves, he was playing an Alembic.
  10. There seems to be a fair few from Thomann https://www.thomann.de/gb/short_scale_basses.html?feature-53018-first=19&feature-53018-last=24&filter=true&oa=pra
  11. Of course Sire get a lot of love here on BC, there should be something in their range that would suit https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitars/modern-bass-guitars?#facet:307445734561667667583105114101&productBeginIndex:0&facetLimit:&orderBy:&pageView:grid&minPrice:&maxPrice:&pageSize:96&
  12. Just to muddy the waters https://www.andertons.co.uk/brands/sire/sire-v-series-basses/v7-basses/sire-version-2-marcus-miller-v7-alder-4-string-burgundy?utm_source=YouTube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=sire-v7-new-colours-tlS4STylIFo
  13. There are plenty of threads that will give you the low down on on G&L and Ibanez SR basses, but as a guide: G&L wise any of these https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search/?Query=l_2000+tribute&searchoverride= Ibanez, any of these https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/search/?Query=Ibanez+sr+bass&Filters.InStockOnly=True&Filters.InStockOnly=false&Filters.MinPrice=600&Filters.MaxPrice=1000 As has been said above, get out and try some (I only use Guitar Guitar as an easy to browse and search website, but they are a great company to deal with in my experience). However, if you fancy taking punt, this is a bit of a bargain at €990, if you fancy a bit P+ action https://www.public-peace.de/bass-guitars/exhibition-items-bass/465-jake-4a-sterling-white100169
  14. Fender Vintera range, Ibanez SRs, G&L Tribute L range are 3 that spring to mind.
  15. Likewise. You, sir, like your avatar, are on fire. What do they say? Great minds think alike (and fools never differ). 😂
  16. Sounds great, especially that neck pickup. £595 seems a steal. Fortunately, I don't like 38mm nut width necks; phew! 😅
  17. Add to that, the returns option on long distance selling rules
  18. Damn and bügger! I forgot all about this.
