  1. Ooh, that unlined board is lovely. Enjoy.
  2. Fretless, my favourite type of bass. If you’re wanting the most upright tone possible look no further than a Rob Allen. Outside of that, a fretless Stingray mustn’t be overlooked IMO.
  3. Yep, you,know when you’ve had a full 240v, 13amp belt 😬.
  4. That’s a stunning looking J. I know that Antigua finish divides opinion (for the record, I’ve always liked it) but coupled with those block inlays on a maple board, it just comes alive; what’s not like? Fortunately for my bank balance, I don’t get on with the necks on Js (too narrow for me) otherwise I’d be having serious chats with Mrs Ez and trying to tempt you with my 4003s. GLWTS.
  5. This is a cool build, loving what you’ve done with headstock. I’ll be following this.
  6. The Quilter BB800 got a lot of love at SE bass bash. It’s very simple and is rated at 450w @ 8ohms. Here’s a link to recent (ish) thread
  7. They look very cool, but the proof is in the playing. Time to break out the masking tape.
  8. This thread has made me dig out 17-11-70. Just a simple trio, beautifully mixed and recorded, absolutely full of energy. I love the sound of Dee Murray’s honky J bass on this, clear as a bell but still ballsy and never getting in EJ’s way. I don’t think EJ was ever better.
  9. It happens to me all the time and always when the on stage sound is poor and I can’t hear myself clearly.
  10. 17/11/70 is a great live album, with just piano, drums and bass.
  11. Darling Be Home Soon is just sublime, belch notwithstanding.
  12. I left my pedalboard once, fortunately someone else in the band picked it up.

    OLP MM22

    Score! Nice looker.
  14. I’ve had issues with sticky lacquer with Fender, Gibson and PRS. One thing I was advised to do was to use some auto polish (Autoglym), which I did with the PRS but you have to keep applying it as it wears away. I also did this with Gibson, but eventually sold both because it was a pain. When I bought a Roadworn P, it had the same issue. However, as it was already treated to look older, I didn’t hesitate to strip the lacquer off with Nitromors and then seal the neck with Danish Oil. It was a great, drag free finish.
  15. It does look the business with the covers on, if they don’t interfere with your playing style, go for it. These basses do look rather splendid, although I’d reduce the size of the headstock if I had one, and the history of it’s development is really engaging. BT had another P supplied by Barry of the Bass Centre after the theft of his ‘salmon pink’ one which he apparently never liked as much. I owned this bass (a white ‘63 P) for a while and it was brilliant. If this recreation of BT’s original plays and sounds better than that ‘63 (which is the point of its creation surely) it must be something very special indeed, especially at the price point. Congrats on your purchase.
  16. NICE! Quality service from both Lakland and La Bella too.

    Pino

You could have a custom build Maruszczyk Jake in Pino spec for £1060.
  18. Killer pickups. If it didn’t mean having to have my J type routed for these to fit, I’d be all over them. GLWTS, the lucky buyer won’t be disappointed.
  19. I prefer the charcoal because it’s warmer looking and different. I had a Sandberg in blackburst and got bored with the look fairly quickly. YMMV.
  20. Now that’s how it’s done, quality resource. I’ll go away and hide now, suitably abashed.
