The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
ezbass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
As the car was due a service and sitting on a wall, reading for 2 hours didn't appeal, I finally went out into the wilds of the high street. As that high street was Epsom, a visit to Guitar Guitar was had. Picking up where I left off in Jan/Feb of this year, I tried the Fender JMJ Mustang again (along with a couple of other shorties). Damn! I see a JMJ in my future; so nice. Time to offload some gear to finance it. -
Finished! A Guitar Bouzouki - (no basses were harmed in the...)

That sounds so interesting, not a six string, not a 12 string - I like it. -

That was a nice reveal. I'm glad it finally landed safely. -
I don’t play drums 😉.

A bound body, thinline in one of my favourite colours; yummy!

As a long time lurker, you know the score here. Well done for coming out of the shadows.

That OLP for the win IMO.

For sale is my Mk1 Korg Pitchblack tuner. It's been on my pedalboard since I bought it, I've always had it externally powered so a battery has never sullied its interior. You know all about these: accurate, easy to read, mutes whilst in operation, also services as a power distributor for other pedals. Comes complete with all original packaging and instructions. Only reason for selling is that I've downsized my board and need a mini one instead. £30 of your English, Earth Pounds, including delivery to your door by those kind folks at Royal Mail (pick up is available if you prefer). Bank transfer/PayPal or suitably sanitised folding on collection. That's it. What have I forgotten? Oh yes... PS. No trades (as if anyone would want to anyway).

That’s way too far towards the top edge IMO.

Heavy downpours and local flooding may have slowed things up a tad. Fingers crossed for an imminent delivery. -
I like the compact look of 3 over 1, but MM's (and Fender's) 4 over 1 is ridiculous! 3 over 2, or 2 over 3 seems much neater.

I actually sniggered when I read that; so true. 😄

I think modulation and ambience fx can be set up using 'phones, at least there, or there abouts. Distortion and EQ, not so much IMO. I'd probably add more drive through my rig than I would through the cans. I sometimes use the top half of my Phil Jones rig (4x5) indoors for a better aural perspective, but I know full well that when I add the powered 6x5 extension there is suddenly way more bottom end, even though this rig is pretty flat in its response.
-
To be fair, dragging your rig out into a small space won’t give you a true representation either. You need space and a good deal of it. ☹️

Absolutely agree, great guitars with some astonishing finishes, great playability and tone, but WTF?

So many different opinions here on what we dislike. Some might see it as a sea of negativity, but I think it’s healthy that we like/dislike different things. It’s unlikely that any of my dislikes would stop me buying a bass that played magnificently and sounded awesome, but it would give me pause. Too many knobs and switches and gold hardware are two of my pet peeves, but I’ve owned an SR1605 that is guilty of both. Some headstock shapes are ‘wrong’ too, so, combined with my previous 2 dislikes, a Fodera in my arsenal seems unlikely (even if I could afford one, they do sound fantastic, however). But if you think some of the already listed headstocks are puke inducing, check out what guitarists have to endure...

Cool stuff - whammy-tastic!
