    Geddy Lee pedal

I can’t understand why it isn’t on the Tech21 webpage.
  2. Nice, very, early period, Andy Summers (bottom, mid-left).
  3. Love Abe’s use of flamenco technique. You can see where Abe Jr learnt about attack from.
  4. I’m really looking forward to @Sharkfinger and @dave_bass5‘s views when this pedal lands.
  5. That's a great sounding pedal. The controls seem like a good idea once set, but man alive they look fiddly!
  6. As I understand it, the BDDI has a pre-set mid scoop and one would be fighting with the pedal to alter that (unless you want a mid scoop of course), which is why I went with the VTDI. Not only does it have a mid control, but the character control seems like another mid control to me. Plus, you also have the bite and speaker emulation buttons (always on for me).
  7. I use a Tech21 VTDI with my ultra clean Phil Jones rig. Having played with a few settings, just using ears as a guide, it seems that I have set it identical to what Tech21 calls ‘Fat Tube’ albeit with the blend at 2 o’clock. Sounds good to me and my drummer and guitarist have commented on how they like it.
  8. I’ve followed this thread loosely and I’m wondering about the premise. Does anyone actually overrate the Ric? As it’s generally regarded as a bit of a one trick pony (as an owner, I don’t think it is) it is surely hard to overrate it. Does it have some questionable design features? Does its looks divide opinion? Is it sometimes badly put together? Yes to all of those, but overrated? Not so much IMO, it’s just a bass at the end of the day. BC does like a Ric bash and sometimes it’s warranted (I often agree with those points) and Ric themselves do nothing to endear them to the bass community, but to call it overrated sounds off to me, you might as well ask that of any ‘one trick pony’ bass. My 2p FWIW.
  9. I’ve fitted them to every 4 string bass I have and many more previously. Fantastic piece of kit.
  10. I think you’re right on the p/ups, it seems to be either Bartolini or Aguilar.
  11. Indeed, or possibly lacking in imagination. Vive la difference I reckon. For the record, I have owned a goodly number of P basses, both modern and vintage, absolutely lovely instruments. These days I prefer the extra tonal options a J type gives me, especially live. If a studio session demands that P bass tone, the neck p/up soloed on my passive JJ is as near as makes no odds (see my earlier post about the SE Bash’s blind test).
  12. Those who were at the SE Bass Bash will testify that it's surprising how much 'listening' is done with the eyes.
  13. Honza isn’t the only one. I also thought I’d missed something on this build. Now we’ve had a thread resurrection, desperation for updates will be on the increase. 😉
  14. That’s a very cool pressie.
  15. Good musicians with good social skills seem to be in the minority. Not every talented player is able to work with others and, sometimes, players with poor social skills wonder why their band always seems to have certain vacancies.
  16. Beat me to it, my thoughts exactly. The 2nd hand value of Ibbys is ridiculously low, so an absolute bargain can be had.
  17. George Ls solderless. I also use a long one to connect my pedal board to the amp. EDIT: Re tone. If this system is good enough for the tone hound that is Eric Johnson, it’s good enough for me. I’ve done side by side aural tests with other long leads, including monster and I prefer the George Ls. I’ve been using them for over 20 years.
  18. That Fender makes me feel ill 🤮
  19. SM played venues like The Hammersmith on the SITR tour (a great gig, one of my favourites), I felt that it all got a bit bloated after Don't Forget About Me and Once Upon A Time. I'll concede that Red Rocks was a big gig, but they still had that raw edge for me. As ever, your and other folks' mileage may vary.
  20. Simple Minds and U2 spring to mind. The albums from both bands before they started playing stadiums had more urgency and were less overblown to my my ears, New Gold Dream/Sparkle In The Rain and Boy/War were high water marks for me.
  21. Don’t Stop Believing, they did it in Glee which gave Journey a hit all over again. Others that might work: Died In Your Arms Tonight; Gold; Alone; Rosanna; Africa; We Built This City; Every Little Thing (She Does Is Magic); Video Killed The Radio Star.
