  1. Is the Mesa 800w rating at 2 or 4 ohms and what is the ohm rating of the 2 Aggies combined? Hopefully, the numbers will mean that the Mesa won’t be pushing out its maximum power.
  2. Both look good IMO, but once the hardware is on, I think black will edge it.
  3. It's going to get deeper? Oh be still my beating heart! I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  4. Holy 💩! 👏👏👏 I have a puny 4 (2x Maruszczyks, 1 Ric, 1 Rob Allen), plus 3 guitars (2 acoustics, 1 Tele).
  5. Ooh! Look at the depth in that gloss. I love the contrast against the natural finish.
  6. Although I am currently MM-less, here are my previous 'Rays:
  7. It’s from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy: “Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet,; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)” In the books, towels are seen as one of the most useful items a hitchhiker can have. World Towel Day is May 25th.
  8. For the Geddy look, black all day long. However, if you're going for classy, block inlay J Bass, parchment.
  9. Cracking basses - enjoy.
  10. Ah, I thought you wanted to see them. I was once enamoured of the idea, but I’ve now moved on. I always much preferred TL’s standard playing, but I was a fanboy at the time and wanted to have a go at funk fingers. His DB playing is rather good too, but that’s for another thread.
  11. Still fully expecting to be there this year, so... 1) Cetera - Spector NS2 & Legend 4X, Dingwall NG2, Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird, Yamaha BB3000, GK800RB head, Genz Benz Neox212 cab, Tech-21 Dug DP3X preamp/pedal 2) Ezbass - Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretted (J pickups), Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretless (MM pickup), Rickenbacker 4003s, Rob Allen MB2 fretless, Phil Jones Flightcase + PB300.
  12. Sadly, no, but I’m going to start playing the intro to Sledgehammer differently from now on, you’ll see why when you watch it.
  13. I wondered if anyone else had seen this recently...
  14. The weather has had me adjusting my the truss rods on my Maruszczyks more than ever before. However, despite the usual pillorying of the Rickenbacker system, this one has been steady as a rock.
  15. I forgot to mention earlier that I saw the original No Parlez tour in the ‘80s, at the Lyceum in London. PY was brilliant as was the tall Welshman on the bass - good times.
  16. A friend of mine saw him in Brighton recently, it was not great apparently. Such a shame, it was a great voice.
  17. My inner child sniggered until it snorted when I read that original post. However, I also restrained myself from posting an obvious innuendo. Hold on. Curses! I appear to have been hoisted by my own petard
  18. Top work! The chap who initially taught me play guitar had a Ranger 6 and I always lusted after one. I never bought a 6, but I did buy a 12 second hand in my teens. After that, I realised that there were ‘better’ acoustics out there. However, if I saw one in a shop now, I might still buy it for those aforementioned, sentimental reasons.
  19. Any of the Robben Ford and the Blue Line albums get my vote, especially the first one.
  20. This build is going to be awesome. Not only do we get a combination of features that the big F never put together, but also a pickup that’ll make it even more different. Colour me oh so intrigued.

OK, it’s not a Fender, but there’s no mistaking this bass’ origins...
