  1. 👏👏👏
  2. Fitting Dunlop straplocks would give a bit more extension and weight.
  3. Perhaps, but your explanations of bass construction are always illuminating. Thanks for posting.
  4. I listened to this earlier and I found it to be a collection of ideas stuck together to make a whole, in the style of earlier, better works. In short - meh. For me, other than Who Are You, they haven’t done anything of real worth since Quadrophenia. YMMV.
  5. If it was a Flightcase, I’m surprised you found it heavy. I’ve never found mine to struggle with a B string, even with my Rob Allen MB2. Hey, we’re all different.
  6. Very true, if you want to wait of course. Can’t say I’ve ever seen a P only 5 string Jake.
  7. Hmm, you might want to wash them first then. 😂
  8. Shame about the pure P requirement https://www.public-peace.de/bass-guitars/maruszczyk/jake/5-string
  9. A certain musical retailer in Brighton is another offender, especially bass stuff. They have it, but in a warehouse, which they then won’t go and get for you. I now refuse to shop there. Anderton’s have a similar set up, but they will get the gear in the shop if you ask, plus their bass dept is way more impressive than the coastal crew.
  10. Looks like he got bored and just cut it a little as possible to fit.
  11. Recently reconfigured nano board.
  12. That is lovely, if I hadn't recently bought a new P type, I would be very interested in this. Good luck with the sale.
  13. 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱! That is all.
  14. I'm thinking the loft definitely killed mine. However, with some judicious application of gaffa tape, we have a working stand again. Aradite, gaffa and WD40, if you can't fix it with any of those, chuck it!
  15. A fair bit is acoustic amplification and PJ don't have the rep of some other companies I guess. Same probably goes for bass stuff, albeit to a far lesser extent. Either way, I imagine it's just sitting there on shelves, costing them money, so get rid and make room for stuff that sells faster. Good news for us .
  16. Garage storage may have some bearing on the demise of the plastic. Less than optimal temperatures and, if cars are stored there, there may well be some pollutant damage. I used an old A frame stand yesterday (not a Hercules) which I’d been storing in the loft, took it to a gig and, upon opening it, the rubber at the apex just split. The environment in my loft had obviously degraded it (plus, it was probably cheap). Fortunately, not as a huge disaster as having the height control section let go on the OP’s Hercules (I have one of these too, which I may now remove from the loft to a more stable environment).
  17. I like Peter Frampton’s version of While My Guitar... then again I can’t stand Clapton’s woeful wailing on the original (George should’ve played it himself IMO). Joe Cocker (feat. Jimmy Page) is probably the high water mark for almost any cover.
  18. Cody Wright on Sunday interests me (another pick playing masterclass after Bobby Vega last time around sounds good). My guitar playing interest is piqued by Lari Basilio.
  19. That Flightcase is a steal!
  20. RESULT!!! Enjoy.
  21. Here’s an hour and a half of the bass in question.
  22. Whichever gets the job done best for you. However, if part of that job is future resale, the ‘Ray is likely to move quickest.
  23. A visit to the ‘How Many Basses Do You Own’ thread will give a good guide as to the tools vs treasures divide.
  24. I’m another of the, “If it’s not getting used, move it on,” brigade. However, this has bitten me in the bum a few times (both guitars and basses) where I should’ve kept hold some pieces, but it’s all been a learning process which has brought me to where I am now. I have 4 basses, two of which are custom builds based on what I’ve learnt what I’ve liked over the years and these are likely to stay with me for many years (never say forever and all that). I can see improvements that could be made with the other two (just small things) but they’re getting used as is, so no plans to move them on at all either (Lady Ez has forbidden me to sell one of them as she thinks it’s really different sounding from other basses - it’s a Rob Allen). So I guess I do regard them as tools, but as many artisans take pride in their tools, I do too.
  25. The bass baby is home, that's the best thing.
