  1. One of these bad boys http://www.herculesstands.co.uk/p/auto-grab-guitar-stand-with-foldable-yoke?pp=24 will do the trick. I use a double one for my brace of gigging basses.
  2. That looks rather smart and you get to choose the pickups, a situation I’d really enjoy. Congrats.
  3. I see from the Public Peace website that Adrian and Wojtek are going to be on the main stage of the London Bass Guitar Show on the Saturday. Hopefully, Adrian will also be exhibiting too. Not that you'd know from the LBGS website, which is woeful with any up to date or accurate information.
  4. Thanks, Ped. Stupid, blind, berk that I am, I didn’t see that and had gone straight to the Saturday tab.
  5. OK, I'm going to go on the Saturday, despite not receiving any confirmation from the organisers as to who's appearing when (great service, not!) and I've 'purchased' my discount voucher code, but I can't see where to apply it on the ticket order page. Can anyone help a simple soul find where to input the code (£4 is £4 after all)?
  6. You have inspired me to learn this now, although I'll have to be downtuning my 4 string.
  7. I saw that tour too, at the Hammersmith; Mo broke a string. One the best gigs I’ve ever seen.
  8. Very nice, both the playing and your Stingray.
  9. I want to go, but the LBGS site's schedule seems up the wall. There doesn't seem to be anyone on the main stage on Sunday, there are no dates for the masterclass stage and one of the artists will be going backwards in time for their performance. I emailed the organisers a couple of days ago for clarification, but no reply as yet.
  10. Apparently, Radiohead are not suing, at least by the very definition of the term http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-42633115
  11. The coolest shape for bass (or guitar) IMO . I've always fancied a white one. Enjoy you new purchase; nice one.
  12. I don’t like gold hardware, but this may stem from the nasty sweat in my hands ripping off the gold off of the bridge of a guitar I owned in 80s, making it look really nasty. Aesthetically speaking, most gold finished hardware is often too ‘sparkly’ (for want of a better description) for my tastes. However, sometimes, when it’s somewhat dull, it does work.
  13. There are plenty of new rock bands out there (well newish), some that spring to mind are: Von Hertzen Brothers; Volbeat; Tax The Heat; Broken Witt Rebels; The Fallen State. Check out Wyatt’s New Rock Show, Saturday nights on a Planet Rock.
  14. I like it. If you'd described it to me in words, I probably would've thought, "Eeeew!" but those pictures tell a different story. Nice.
  15. Current price for a new Cazpar ranges from €1090-€1190, so that seems like a good buy indeed.
  16. I’m trying to get some Rush in . We have Yes, Marillion, Toto and Journey tunes alongside Madonna, Blondie, Level 42, etc. If we like it and feel it would go down well, we’ll give it a go.
  17. This ^^ Most of the honours are given out just for doing a job (I give you Charles Thyrwitt’s gong for services to retail. WTF?) and being well paid into the bargain. Services to this and that, be it music, broadcasting, dance, sport - all paid jobs. Where’s Mrs Ez’s gong for services to being a secretary for 30+ years? Oh, that’s right, she’s not a celeb. If you haven’t received a gong for charitable works, give it back for you are not worthy.
  18. As of tonight, 12. I already have that many booked for next year, so I’m hoping to have had a better year than this come next December.
  19. Ah, this old problem. I would have thought that a split coil affair in a J housing would get you pretty close. Of course the size of a P pickup is part of that tone, so getting that tone from a J sized p/up is always going to be hard, but something with chunky poles might help, like these perhaps http://www.delano.de/products.html?&cHash=54bcaec391&tx_smtdelano_pi1[cat]=1&tx_smtdelano_pi1[series]=5&tx_smtdelano_pi1[strings]=5&tx_smtdelano_pi1[system]=34
  20. The guy who owned that and the Streatham Vale branch, Eric Lindsey, was the guitarist with Gentle Giant way back in the day. He also once played with my covers band back when I was playing guitar, I felt somewhat redundant. That area was quite good for music shops at the time, there was a large shop in Lewisham (Eric Styles?), Gigsounds in Rushey Green and another shop just up the road in Catford where I bought a Yamaha SA2000 (never should have moved that on). Add to that Tune Inn in Lee Green and you were spoilt for choice. A bit different now.
  21. Gigsounds? The upright playing frog in my avatar came from there.
  22. Lovely. The different colours in the swirls are mesmerising.
