  1. I think I speak for more than just me when I say, more pics please.
  2. Because of an injury, I recently did a rehearsal on a high stool; it was great. If I wasn’t singing and was set up way in the back, I wouldn’t mind doing a gig like that. There are stools that incorporate a guitar stand and I might have to get one. Physical age shouldn’t be a barrier to playing, it’s all about how you feel about it in your mind. Keep on going until you feel you’ve had enough, if ever.
  3. I think it'll be easier to get a visually nicer finish in white. Plus, you don't see too many white Corvettes (or Corvette-alikes).
  4. This is going to be good, I can feel it. I like the shape of the lower bout and the reinforcing you've done there. Colour? I think I'd go with white.
  5. A very rock list for the most part. 3 I hadn’t heard of, although I’m aware of the bands, which indicates a younger voting audience. As ever with these lists, nothing really to see here, move along and don’t waste your ire on it.
  6. And there I was thinking I was GAS free. Damn you, sir!
  7. It has to be down to playability, which should include weight and body shape, not just string spacing.
  8. Bass amps as guitar amps have a rich history. They tend to be really good for tones with fairly low drive and take most guitar fx really well.
  9. I find the thicker the pick the thicker the tone. I use a 2mm when using a pick. Turning the pick around and using the wide part will reduce the attack, something I discovered Robben Ford does on guitar.
  10. You know what we’re like, once we start it’s hard to stem the flow.
  11. Colour me intrigued. I look forward to the progress of this.
  12. So - Peter Gabriel Ah Via Musicom - Eric Johnson Robben Ford & The Blue Line - Robben Ford & The Blue Line
  13. I’m not a Jaco fan directly, most of what he played leaves me cold, although the Joni Mitchell stuff was ok, but even there I prefer to hear her with Larry Klein. However, I’m a huge Pino fan, especially his fretless playing, and Norman Watt Roy, both of whom name check JP, so I can’t dismiss what he did.
  14. Through the years I’ve often ‘tried out’ forms of music which are new to me, but I still come back to my rock/pop base. I like some classical music and listened to a fair bit as a kid, but I’m happy just listening to Bach if I fancy some CM (although I do like Copeland a fair bit too). I was very into jazz once upon a time, but even then a lot of it left me totally cold and now Robben Ford’s, blues tinged stylings are mainly what please me. I did try opera and I just don’t like it, with the exception of Carmen (but then I also find musicals trying). As Coilte said, it either appeals to your ear, or it doesn’t and I’m not sure you can train yourself to like something that doesn’t float your boat in any way originally. BTW, I love your avatar, Barking Spiders; I have 4 chums called Alan, 3 of which we’re all in the same band
  15. I had a feeling someone would pull me up on this, I stand corrected and gladly so.
  16. If you like a of 5/4 time, the theme to The Bill is hard to beat.
  17. I was struggling to pick one but this gave me my answer immediately: Bad Company.
  18. I owned the P bass he bought from The Bass Centre to replace his stolen one for some years and then moved it on in these very pages. Suffice to say I played a few Attractions tunes on it and it sounded marvellous (even though it was me playing it). BT had really inventive bass lines and is/was obviously a very talented player. However, it seems he fell out of love with playing and became more involved with his writing, with tales of the music biz and Bruce Lee. I did hear tell that The Bass Centre we’re going to do a BT sig bass, but I don’t know what became of that.
