1. My Maruszczyk Elwood L and Rob Allen MB2
 2. How did I not think of this guy earlier? David Rhodes! His work with Peter Gabriel is outstanding, not your usual guitarist mould, but fantastic at what he does.
 3.
This was on my home screen - first time I've seen it. There are some interesting and well priced items. https://www.guitarbuild.co.uk/search?type=product&q=bass
I bought the body for my Telecaster from them, really nice quality, especially for the money.
 4. Ernie Ball cobalts are my current weapons of choice on both fretted and fretless. They sound almost like nickel round wounds to me (just a little less top end).
 5. I saw my audiologist today for my annual check up. I mentioned about dropping the attenuation of my Elacin's from to 15 to 9db. I'm happy to report that he didn't throw up his hands in horror, in fact he showed little reaction at all. Maybe he doesn't care and hopes that I'll damage my hearing so I'll need to get a hearing aid sooner than later. However, I'm going to assume that he's a reasonably caring professional and that my plan isn't dumb. On the downside, my hearing has degraded from last year, more so on the left side
 6.
That I'd be far better playing bass than guitar - wasted too many years on 6 strings when I should have realised bass was always going to be my thing.
+1
 7.
Can only agree - it is lovely. OK, just placed my order. Classic Jake 5 string, black with black pickguard, birdseye maple neck/board and headstock plus carbon rods. Delano pups, Chrome Hipshot B bridge and Ultralite tuners. Luminlay side dots. Should have done this 2 years ago!! Excitement mounts!!
Good man! Did you mock it up in the configurator? If so, you know the rules, pic I didn't have rods in my fretless which needs adjusting hardly ever so I didn't for the fretted. However, the fretted one has needed a fair amount of adjusting by comparison (just tiny movements on the truss rod back and forth), but has settled down now.
 8. Given the sad news of Tom Petty's passing, Mike Campbell springs to mind.
 9. Steve Morse. For the vast majority of folks he just isn't Richie Blackmore, but he's a hell of a player.
 10.
no, no you don't. A drop in protection is very dangerous, don't risk it why don't you stop using seat belts, I mean you'll be able to exit the car faster.....thru the windscreen
Not a great comparison but I appreciate your concern.
 11.
Yes, lightweight tuners. Interesting observation about the bridge, Si. Anyone else had this issue?
The bridge is more fiddly than some because of the angle of the locking grub screw. However, given that I'm not altering the intonation or action that often, I don't find it a particular nuisance, but then again, my other bass is a Ric
 12.
Lowering the level of protection is not a good way to go IMO.
We're not a loud band by any stretch of the imagination and I could not wear anything were it not for the occasional peaks (see cymbals and occasional cheesy synth tones) so a drop in the protection might not be as bad as it sounds. But I do take your point.
 13.
this my problem too, I've got hearing loss at around 6K Hz (not through playing in a band, work place damage and old age I think) which I wear hearing aids for, ACS moulded just cut out too much around this area leaving everything very muddy sounding, I do wear one, the ear next to the drummer, but use a 'Christmas tree' one in the other ear, seems to work for me
It's good to know one is not alone. I'm going to try a lower attenuation filter (9db) and see what's what.
 14. That's cracking and with some real meaning behind the build, rather than one of Fender's, off the shelf, new way of dressing up a classic build (even though they were the inspiration). Proper tasty that is, enjoy.
 15.
Also, I assume you can have almost any wiring options you want on your bass. Not just the standard V, V, T etc.?
Yup. I have a vol, blend, tone on my J set up and a 3 way rotary on MM p/up (series, para, single) rather than a mini switch. Ask and Adrian does his very best to accede to your requirement.
 16.
I have no idea. I don't analyse them. There's probably not a big difference between the ER's and PRO's but I wanted a second set, got a discount voucher last Christmas and bought the latest model.
Ah ha! Can't fault your logic there. Thanks for the reply, I'll try some internet exploration.
 17. Try flipping the pickup around (if the the loom will stretch) and see if the problem follows the pole piece.
 18.
ACS for me. I used ER15's for 10 years and have now switched to the PRO17's. Of course ear plugs change the sound, but not as much as the issues you get with hearing loss and IME the differences caused by ear plugs are easy to deal with.
I've been using ER15s for absolutely ages, but I am now noticing a deadening of the top end of my rig's sound when I wear them (which is always in a band situation). This may be down to my own top end loss being accentuated by the Elacins, either way I'm thing of changing the filters. What's the difference between the ERs and the PROs?
 19.
I've got dreadnought & jumbo gas. My colleagues are gonna kick me out the office soon if I can't hold it.
20.
That pretty much sums it up for me. The songs, arrangements and production get weaker, and Neil's lyrics start to suck a bit. (And I'm a MASSIVE fan.)
I have to agree with the production comment, it became just so 'dense'. Still, there are some real gems amongst the also rans on those albums; Far Cry still does it for me every time I hear it.
 21.
Not the best photos but here it is £380 and its in great condition. My Taylor 210
£380 for a Taylor? Result! I've had my Simon & Patrick rosewood folk for over 20 years and it's great. However, even though I play it rarely, I keep getting dreadnought or jumbo GAS. Discovering this thread has not helped

 23.
There was a little frisson of leftie bass love between the stage and the "camera operator".
Probably looking for an opportunity to liberate said bass
Mind you, Davey got a stern telling off when, while talking about the difficulty of finding decent left handed basses, he made a throwaway remark, "Maybe I should've just learned right handed..."
Rookie error.
