  1. 107 pages of content, including: opinions; problems; advice and porn, makes this a completely viable thread IMO, no matter what its origins. My Maruszczyks have been great and have consigned my 4003s to being merely decorative. In other news, I’ve been toying with swapping the necks of my Elwood Ls over for a while. Today I thought I’d check the hole alignment. Yeah, that’s not happening, they are not the same. I shouldn’t be surprised, Adrian has said in the past that (at least back then) that each body and neck are made for each other. Hmm, other GAS reducing tactics must be employed methinks.
  2. Video with what looks one those Robelli basses being used by Mr Dart. Thanks to @chris_b for originally posting this video in another thread.
  3. Certainly when Jack Stratton was demonstrating its versatility, I could barely tell the difference (a bit more attack with the pick, but not much more than that). Change out that knob for something more discreet (a Jazz bass knob perhaps) and it'd look much better IMO.
  4. Does it come with the stand? How does that even work?
  5. Another month done and still no gear for either tier one or two. However, once the Geddy Lee pedal becomes available at my local Guitar Guitar, I may fall off the wagon.
  6. You are correct, I don’t even know who or what Skee-Lo is.
  7. I haven’t played it live for a goodly while now, but I always enjoyed ‘I Wish’.
  8. Yes! Very much this! GAH!
  9. Strip off the hardware and necks, throw them down Guildford High Street, reassemble, job done.
  10. I used to have one of these, really pokey and with an inherent tone that sits in the mix perfectly. Couple one of these with one of those Quilter BB800s and I reckon that would be the ultimate loud, lightweight rig, although it’s a good match for any amp IMO.
  11. Yeah, that doesn't really work though does it? They're there to sell and if a punter wants to play loudly, they're not going to potentially hinder a possible sale by asking them to turn down. The Eich stand last year was a case in point, the exhibitor opposite must have been particularly irritated (I certainly didn't want to peruse their wares because of the adjacent racket and I was wearing earplugs!). Perhaps having the exhibitors have their own individual baffled areas within their stands is a compromise.
  12. This thread should be on Guitarchat too.
  13. 👏👏👏 That works for me sooo much, even more than this I think.
  14. My first shout would be The Gallery. Dependent on where you’re based, Guitar Guitar, Epsom is OK and accommodating, I don’t know about the Camden branch, but you could do that alongside The Gallery (Gallery first though).
  15. Ooh, that unlined board is lovely. Enjoy.
  16. Fretless, my favourite type of bass. If you’re wanting the most upright tone possible look no further than a Rob Allen. Outside of that, a fretless Stingray mustn’t be overlooked IMO.
  17. Yep, you,know when you’ve had a full 240v, 13amp belt 😬.
  18. And frankly, who can blame him?
  19. That’s a stunning looking J. I know that Antigua finish divides opinion (for the record, I’ve always liked it) but coupled with those block inlays on a maple board, it just comes alive; what’s not like? Fortunately for my bank balance, I don’t get on with the necks on Js (too narrow for me) otherwise I’d be having serious chats with Mrs Ez and trying to tempt you with my 4003s. GLWTS.
  20. 🤤 👏
  21. This is a cool build, loving what you’ve done with headstock. I’ll be following this.
  22. The Quilter BB800 got a lot of love at SE bass bash. It’s very simple and is rated at 450w @ 8ohms. Here’s a link to recent (ish) thread
  23. They look very cool, but the proof is in the playing. Time to break out the masking tape.
  24. This thread has made me dig out 17-11-70. Just a simple trio, beautifully mixed and recorded, absolutely full of energy. I love the sound of Dee Murray’s honky J bass on this, clear as a bell but still ballsy and never getting in EJ’s way. I don’t think EJ was ever better.
  25. It happens to me all the time and always when the on stage sound is poor and I can’t hear myself clearly.
