  1. Try getting a car to fit that in!
  2. Given they had Flea in the drum episode, it would've been an easy goal. Re: McCartney's playing of more notes in that example; I wonder if doing that made singing over it easier, I know I struggle singing over simpler, deep pocket lines. I found it interesting how poor the imitation of Bernard's 'chucking' was, never mind what sounded like the 'wrong' notes to me, repeated over and over (when they showed the BE footage, it was a different line and played way, way better). Not enough about the P bass for sure, I'd rather they covered that than where Talking Heads once lived. However, I'd be interested in a Talking Heads documentary.
  3. Cool map/wallpaper. Those Skylines are quality instruments. GLWTS.
  4. I thought the drum episode was better, but that may be down to already knowing the majority of the content of this episode already.
  5. He is just brilliant, I discovered him through his cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
  6. I think Lee Sklar has the answer...
  7. That's one of the best looking Frog sixers I've seen. Someone is going to be very happy indeed.
  8. Oh that's clever, I did not know that. Dammit! Now have Tony Franklin P Bass GAS.
  9. That looks the total dog's dangly bits.
  10. I was pretty sure I’d be able to abstain for this year, but since reading the thread for adding tube warmth to solid state amps and the Tech21 Geddy Lee pedal thread, I’m not feeling so positive.
  11. You are a clever and talented chap. Up to and including, mind reading; I was looking at the alternate back cover and thought that it’d look better the other way round, scrolled down and you told me why you couldn’t do that. 👏👏👏

    Geddy Lee pedal

I can’t understand why it isn’t on the Tech21 webpage.
  13. Nice, very, early period, Andy Summers (bottom, mid-left).
  14. Love Abe’s use of flamenco technique. You can see where Abe Jr learnt about attack from.
  15. I’m really looking forward to @Sharkfinger and @dave_bass5‘s views when this pedal lands.
  16. That's a great sounding pedal. The controls seem like a good idea once set, but man alive they look fiddly!
  17. As I understand it, the BDDI has a pre-set mid scoop and one would be fighting with the pedal to alter that (unless you want a mid scoop of course), which is why I went with the VTDI. Not only does it have a mid control, but the character control seems like another mid control to me. Plus, you also have the bite and speaker emulation buttons (always on for me).
  18. I use a Tech21 VTDI with my ultra clean Phil Jones rig. Having played with a few settings, just using ears as a guide, it seems that I have set it identical to what Tech21 calls ‘Fat Tube’ albeit with the blend at 2 o’clock. Sounds good to me and my drummer and guitarist have commented on how they like it.
  19. I’ve followed this thread loosely and I’m wondering about the premise. Does anyone actually overrate the Ric? As it’s generally regarded as a bit of a one trick pony (as an owner, I don’t think it is) it is surely hard to overrate it. Does it have some questionable design features? Does its looks divide opinion? Is it sometimes badly put together? Yes to all of those, but overrated? Not so much IMO, it’s just a bass at the end of the day. BC does like a Ric bash and sometimes it’s warranted (I often agree with those points) and Ric themselves do nothing to endear them to the bass community, but to call it overrated sounds off to me, you might as well ask that of any ‘one trick pony’ bass. My 2p FWIW.
  20. I’ve fitted them to every 4 string bass I have and many more previously. Fantastic piece of kit.
  21. I think you’re right on the p/ups, it seems to be either Bartolini or Aguilar.
  22. Or is really cheap. 😉
  23. Indeed, or possibly lacking in imagination. Vive la difference I reckon. For the record, I have owned a goodly number of P basses, both modern and vintage, absolutely lovely instruments. These days I prefer the extra tonal options a J type gives me, especially live. If a studio session demands that P bass tone, the neck p/up soloed on my passive JJ is as near as makes no odds (see my earlier post about the SE Bash’s blind test).
