Good musicians with good social skills seem to be in the minority. Not every talented player is able to work with others and, sometimes, players with poor social skills wonder why their band always seems to have certain vacancies.

Beat me to it, my thoughts exactly. The 2nd hand value of Ibbys is ridiculously low, so an absolute bargain can be had.

George Ls solderless. I also use a long one to connect my pedal board to the amp. EDIT: Re tone. If this system is good enough for the tone hound that is Eric Johnson, it’s good enough for me. I’ve done side by side aural tests with other long leads, including monster and I prefer the George Ls. I’ve been using them for over 20 years.

SM played venues like The Hammersmith on the SITR tour (a great gig, one of my favourites), I felt that it all got a bit bloated after Don't Forget About Me and Once Upon A Time. I'll concede that Red Rocks was a big gig, but they still had that raw edge for me. As ever, your and other folks' mileage may vary.

Simple Minds and U2 spring to mind. The albums from both bands before they started playing stadiums had more urgency and were less overblown to my my ears, New Gold Dream/Sparkle In The Rain and Boy/War were high water marks for me.

Don’t Stop Believing, they did it in Glee which gave Journey a hit all over again. Others that might work: Died In Your Arms Tonight; Gold; Alone; Rosanna; Africa; We Built This City; Every Little Thing (She Does Is Magic); Video Killed The Radio Star.

I agree with the lessons suggestion. I also think that, from your gear list, the amp is what sticks out as the obvious upgrade area. However, all that being said, I have found that what normally pushes my playing along is playing itself and whatever it takes to inspire me to play more, be that lessons, gear, a new band/dep, whatever. Think about what will make you want to devote more time to playing (constructively) and spend your wonga accordingly.

Those Nordy Big Singles do have a lovely tone. Enjoy.

I vaguely remember this being for sale at The Gallery many years ago.

That was my very first thought.

You could try adding a spacer, such as a washer, behind the adjustment nut to give you more tension. I had a Fender Roscoe Beck that needed this, one washer sorted it nicely.

I’ve always been a DiMarzio fan for any pickup, they always sound great and their customer support is outstanding. However, my more recent basses have Delanos fitted and Reinhard at Delano goes above and beyond any service I’ve received from any other company. I’m using HE M2s in both my JJ and MM style basses as I love how clear and articulate they sound, but they take overdrive really well. Other styles are available of course.

The late 60s and early 70s certainly gave us some great players and I’d add Davey Johnstone to make up an incredible threesome from that era.

I've done this on occasion, I've even just plugged an active bass straight into one. Given that a powered speaker is just effectively a combo without a conventional preamp, I can't think of any pitfalls. If you can get the tone you want from the BDDI, why bother having another EQ section in the way.

I wonder if it has any comfort contouring on the rear? Either way, does look rather nice.
