  1. White on white sounds very cool, definitely need to see that.
  2. I’ve been using AKG K450s for a good while now, they seem OK, although the lead is very short and you’ll need an extension. I’ve done recording sessions with them as well as using them for the PC.
  3. Not that I buy either theses days, but I wonder who the editorial staff will be, BGM or BP's?
  4. I’m lucky enough that the normal lead singer in our band also teaches and her encouragement and tips have helped both our keyboard player and me really get to grips with vocals (warm ups, technique tips, etc). Take a lesson if you can.
  5. In addition to the above: Jack Bruce, Felix Pappalardi, Bryan Adams, Burke Shelley, Roger Waters, John Wetton, Martin Turner, Sting. I started doing some lead vocals a few years back, the hardest thing I found was not letting the vocal line mess up the groove. It took a lot of practice at home and it still doesn’t come naturally with any new songs, but it is doable. EDIT: beaten to the punch by some of the above
  6. I have these on both my fretted and fretless Maruszczyk basses. They go really well with the Delano pickups (MM and J types) and the tension with the 33” scale is just right. However, you’re not wrong about no one else noticing, but it makes us, the players, happy. I’ve had people come up to me after a gig and ask why I have 2 basses, they couldn’t even tell the difference between fretted and fretted! Why do we bother? Just turning up with any old piece of wood with some strings on it and make a low rumbling noise may be the way of the future (not on my watch though ).
  7. That was great viewing and a bit of an eye opener.
  8. Don’t sell that Aria Les Paul (first nice guitar), or that Yamaha SA2000 (first quality guitar) and don’t swap out that BB300 (first bass)!
  9. How has no one said this yet?
  10. Ignore that 6 stringed thing, play bass; rhythm trumps solos. Buy hearing protection before joining a band. Dont smoke.
  11. Another vote for nail varnish.
  12. Ooh, I say! 👍
  13. Is the Mesa 800w rating at 2 or 4 ohms and what is the ohm rating of the 2 Aggies combined? Hopefully, the numbers will mean that the Mesa won’t be pushing out its maximum power.
  14. Both look good IMO, but once the hardware is on, I think black will edge it.
  15. It's going to get deeper? Oh be still my beating heart! I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product.
  16. Holy 💩! 👏👏👏 I have a puny 4 (2x Maruszczyks, 1 Ric, 1 Rob Allen), plus 3 guitars (2 acoustics, 1 Tele).
  17. Ooh! Look at the depth in that gloss. I love the contrast against the natural finish.
  18. Thoroughly deserved!
  19. Although I am currently MM-less, here are my previous 'Rays:
  20. It’s from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy: “Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet,; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)” In the books, towels are seen as one of the most useful items a hitchhiker can have. World Towel Day is May 25th.
  21. For the Geddy look, black all day long. However, if you're going for classy, block inlay J Bass, parchment.
  22. Cracking basses - enjoy.
  23. Ah, I thought you wanted to see them. I was once enamoured of the idea, but I’ve now moved on. I always much preferred TL’s standard playing, but I was a fanboy at the time and wanted to have a go at funk fingers. His DB playing is rather good too, but that’s for another thread.
  24. Still fully expecting to be there this year, so... 1) Cetera - Spector NS2 & Legend 4X, Dingwall NG2, Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbird, Yamaha BB3000, GK800RB head, Genz Benz Neox212 cab, Tech-21 Dug DP3X preamp/pedal 2) Ezbass - Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretted (J pickups), Maruszczyk Elwood L 4 string fretless (MM pickup), Rickenbacker 4003s, Rob Allen MB2 fretless, Phil Jones Flightcase + PB300.
