I've been using a Mono Betty with my Ric 4003s, but recently it has started to make my shoulder ache on extended periods of playing. Therefore, I've just started using the wide, padded, leather strap that came with my Maruszczyk with the Ric and the situation is now much improved.

Ooh, more pics of the double neck please.

Finished! And now for something completely different ...

Wowsers! I'm expecting a very happy looking Snoopy to be along again very soon. -
OK, I've sent Adrian a spec for a quote, let's see if I can actually afford my design

Oh no! I love Deke's writing, proper laugh out loud stuff and a great raconteur. I have a DVD of him with Man; no slouch on the guitar either.

Just heard this on the radio, sad JW played with so many top bands. He will be missed.

Another vote for toothpicks, especially the round ones, marketed as cocktail sticks. I find that cutting them in two and lowering the fat end in to the hole first, with the tapered end towards the top, compliments the helical nature of the screw itself. A little wood glue, or similar, doesn't go amiss either.

Owner of a Lonely Heart normally, if not, probably a Pretenders' number.

Quality, pure and simple.

Are the band members known yet?

This won't be helpful for finding Danny's sound, but it is nice to hear it in a thread about his tone. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQnFaUJDP4I
I got THE email with the picture!!!
There are no two ways about it, the sofa shot is a very integral part of the Maruszczyk custom experience. Congrats.
Bat out of hell is a particular one that gets me shouting at the radio if it comes on. Though I dislike pretty much anything that comes under the banner of 'classic rock'.
This has me turning the radio off, it's too damned long and that wasp in a jam jar tone has no place in that production (I don't understand how Jim Steinman couldn't hear how bad it sounds). The other thing that has me reaching for the off button is anything by The Doors: turgid, monotonous, self indulgent meanderings, I really don't understand their appeal or level of success.
I don't know how I could have forgotten this but absolutely the most boring song I've ever heard is Stranglehold by Ted Nugent, for my money one of the sh1ttiest 'professional' guitarists I've had the misfortune to hear as well as being an obnoxious right wing bellend. More than half the 8.22 running time is inane noodling over a tedious flanged one note bassline. Utter bilge.
This is literally playing on the radio as I type. I remember loving it as a teenager, but now it's a case of, "Get on with it!"

Tony Levin needs more mentions here!
I know Pino Played on The Shouting Stage
Thats the one. I have it somewhere I think. -
This one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6a8MRbHf5pA
Always lovely, sublime fretless work. Joan A has great taste in bass players, IIRC Pino played on her albums too. -

I thoroughly recommend TL's book, Beyond The Bass Clef, it's full of anecdotes and tips, not all music related. -
Albums you think are great but are critically panned

Rush: Presto and Roll The Bones, vilified even by Rush fans, but I like them both - a lot. -
I think I've finally settled on the colour/look of what I'm hoping will be my next build. Elwood L, Delano JSBC p/ups, passive, drop D tuner, 33" scale, 21 vintage-medium frets. I'll wait until NAMM is over and then drop Adrian a line. Here's a mock up I put together with a stock picture and a bit of editing... Albums you think are crap but are critically acclaimed...
Very valid first point ezbass. It is interesting to see these opinions. I'm a Dire Straits fan, but I find album 3 to be not a patch on the first two (still quite like it) and album 4 to be a much overlooked return to form. I personally think that Brothers in Arms is a victim of when it was made, with the early pushing of studio production technology, robbing the band of their earlier, organic feel. I sort of forgive it as I think there's some great playing and some great songs on it.
Communiqué remains my favourite DS album to this day, such great tunes. They've been play tracks from Making Movies on Planet Rock a lot lately and I'd forgotten how much I like it. -

A good few bands are just getting panned here, merely because people don't like the band. That is not the point of this thread surely. There are a good number of worshipped albums that I could easily diss because I don't like the artist. The real test of this thread is for those who are actual fans of a band's or artist's work to say that a particularly well regarded album is somewhat lacking in their opinion. So, with that in mind, I like the people who produced the following works, but the albums listed are overrated IMO. As ever YMMV: The Wall - Pink Floyd (a few good tracks but many sub par) Zep lV - Led Zep (again some goodies, but a minority) Close To The Edge - Yes (goes on a bit and I like prog - a lot) Brothers In Arms - Dire Straits (not a patch on the first 3 albums) -
That's a shame, I'm on my honeymoon. Do people think Tina would prefer this to Iceland?
First, congrats on the upcoming nuptials. Second, West Yorks over Iceland? Don't even ask, just pre-book your tickets for Guy's show, Mrs Ped will love it

I'm very partial to Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming by the current line up at the moment. However, the live version of Highway Star on Made In Japan always scores highly with me, it's the quintessential version in my view.

Have you tried passing it through the centre slot twice? This is the way Ernie Ball instruct you to fit their Cobalts. I was a new one on me, but it does seem very secure.
