  1. I can’t believe that I’ve been GAS free for so long (3 months is a long time for me) and I’m not even on the lookout for anything. The only thing I can think of is upgrading the pickups in my HB ‘stangalike (EMG GZRs), but then the pickups would be worth more than the whole bass as it stands at the moment. Anyway, it’s hiding in a cupboard currently, so out of sight, etc.
  2. I’m not a reggae aficionado like most here and that term was new to me. Fortunately, the style didn’t turn out to be some unholy mashup that the phrase implies. Phew!
  3. That cheesy keyboard sound is absolutely hateful.
  4. I loved Northern Exposure and have the first part of series one on DVD. So many good characters and stories. Hill Street Blues was another firm favourite.
  5. The walnut bodied ones are the way to go if you prefer a lightweight bass. The maple ones, however, often drift into boat anchor territory, much like my old 4003s. If only I hadn’t been seduced by the Fireglo finish, I might still be a Ric owner.
  6. Probably a bit of both, coupled with a lot of buyers not knowing much about them.
  7. Mouse of the Rising Sun - The Animals
  8. Squier 40th anniversary P bass leaning against the rig, with my Maruszczyk Elwood L hiding behind in its gigbag.
  9. If you've got £150 going spare, there's your answer. Looks great.
  10. It’s a connection between this and a childhood memory that causes the problem. The Ska thing is great.
  11. 747 (Strangers in the Night) - Saxon
  12. I can see where you are coming from. There is often a certain production value that piles on the schmaltz. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun, some interesting lyrics. My Boy Lollipop makes my skin crawl. Normally, it’s the artists performing a song that raises my ire, not the song in itself. It’s entire catalogues that are ruined because of the performer for me.
  13. Literally playing on the radio right now! The River - The Boss
  14. Washing in the Water - Peter Gabriel
  15. I’ll Keep Holding On - The Marvellettes
  16. The light has been seen! Excellent!
  17. With my current band, I use either my Squier P or Mustang JMJ. The sound works perfectly and the look fits. This means that my Elwood doesn’t get played that much at the moment. However, today, I was just running through the set list for a gig on Friday, to blow away cobwebs and reacquaint myself with the 3 sets (it’s been a while) and, as it’s just me at home, I thought I’d use the Elwood for a change. What a sound, fits right in without any flabbiness. Then I remember that the Delanos, although looking like single coils, are in fact mini split coils. I’d completely forgotten that and I effectively have a very lightweight J shaped, double P. I might take it along on Friday, despite the flame maple top. Outside of the band, I’m not sure anyone else would notice that it’s not on point visually.
  18. I tend to put my octave box before any effect (not including tuner) so that it gets a clean signal to help with its tracking. However, pedals react differently and experimentation to find what suits you set up best is the way to go, as @uk_lefty says. With regard to fx loops, I’ve never bothered them and stuck everything in front of the amp (this probably come from having amps without loops previously), it certainly cuts down on the cable spaghetti. However, as always, YMMV. Ooh, nearly forgot
  19. Hurts So Good -John Melancholy Cougar Camp
  20. I’ve made 3, all of which I’m happy with: an overdrive pedal (a Zendrive clone), a fuzz and a tremolo.
  21. “Oh, God! It smells!” So they get nearer
  22. McBusted would kill for that. Yeah, it’s clichéd, but AI has to go on things that have been heard before. Bravo, sir, bravo. 👏👏👏
  23. Night in My Veins - The Pretenders
