  1. Doughnut Fear The Reaper - BOC
  2. Fear of the Duck - Iron Maiden
  3. Mr Brownstone - GnR
  4. There’s a new version of the Cali76 in the FS section at the moment IIRC. There is also an Empress for sale there too, which are also rather good to my ears. I use an MXR M87, which I find effective (no pun intended) and nicely transparent. A big comparison here…
  5. This is so true of my my Mustang too. It’s plainly a short scale thing. Time to upgrade the pickups on my HB ‘stangalike methinks (once I’ve got over my current Spector GAS).
  6. Recording and playing at home with a particular bass is one thing, how did you find the Mustang live? I’ve found mine delivers everywhere so far.
  7. Happiness is a Swarm Gun - The Beatles (perhaps that should be Beetles).
  8. I’m even further north than Edinburgh, so my current Spector GAS must go unsated. Good looking bass 🤘.
  9. Asked and answered in 6 minutes. The power of BC!
  10. You’d think that there’d be one in this lot https://cpc.farnell.com/c/electronic-electrical-components/fans-cooling-devices?searchref=searchlookahead
  11. But it keeps us off the streets.
  12. The beading on the pg is an interesting addition.
  13. Cheap Sunglasses - ZZ Top
  14. The Drugs Don’t Work - The Verve
  15. Pigs On The Wing - Pink Floyd
  16. Not using that new, black bass that appeared on BC a while back.
  17. Maruszczyk have been using 3 over 1, 4 over 1 and 4 over 2 for their Elwood Ls for years (I have 2 myself). https://www.public-peace.de/info/elwood-l.html
  18. Just in from our gig in Stirling, where we played under the stairs. Sounds terrible, but was actually fine, plenty of room and a decent sound too. It’s kind of a 2 shift place, live band from 7-10 and then a disco for much younger folk from 10-3. I think the good weather kept folk at BBQs rather than going to the pub, but a decent enough crowd, who were appreciative and complimentary. The boss lady liked us and chatted with for a good while outside, after we’d packed up. I’d happily play there again. I think I finally managed to nail the settings on my VTDI (far more aggressive than what I’d set at home), it sounded great, the Mustang veering into classic Ric tone territory. The view from outside the establishment.
  19. Moving Out - Billy Joel
  20. One of my favourite players and biggest influences. His career would be awesome, or maybe Lee Sklar’s.
  21. I think the main advantage of an on board preamp, other than those designed to produce a specific ‘brand’ tone as @BigRedX points out, is the ability to adjust on the fly. Back when I used on board preamps and a wireless, I would go out into the space during soundcheck and adjust to taste from there. My current set up do passive Mustang doesn’t seem to need much eq from my setup (drive tone notwithstanding), just a little low end cut on my Phil Jones rig, with the other frequencies flat. Works for me.
