  1. Make sure you never play it with a drummer who counts it correctly but then speeds up by 40bpm in the first 2 bars. Been there, stopped playing, couldn’t play that fast.
  2. A number of bands at the St Anne's on the Sea Music Festival on Monday, which was completely free (kudos to Fylde Council). A couple of chums were in some of the bands, including 'Christine McVie' from Fleetwood Bac.
  3. Haven’t played the Vintera, but I’d describe the neck as a cross between a J and a P. The pickup on the JMJ is very good, sounds just like my old ‘63 P.
  4. I came very close to buying on of these on import, but by the time I’d hemmed and hawed, they sold it.

Whenever I see him being interviewed, he just seems like a nice, normal guy, who just happens to be a Hollywood star.
  6. Aga-do - Black Lace
  7. Or Mrs X apparently. And nor should anyone, farting is completely natural… …and always funny.
  8. And doing a fine job of it too.
  9. Every time I feel that I should be using another of my basses, I’ll play it home and think, “Why am I not using this?” Then, I’ll either take it to a gig or a rehearsal, alongside my JMJ and every time, the JMJ just shines above whatever goes up against it (custom built J type by Maruszczyk, Squier 40th anniversary P). It may be down to the genre my band plays (mod, ska, northern soul), but I suspect it’s just because it’s awesome.
  10. ‘Allo John, Gotta New Motor - Alexie Sayle
  11. So many relics these days seem to be, have rotary sander, will relic.
  12. Just to get that full on, media driven, hype, Blur should announce a tour.
  13. This made me smile.
  14. Didn’t like them, both as a band and as people, still don’t. Hard to believe that this reforming has made some of the front pages.
  15. VAT, shipping, import tax. US prices are quoted ex local taxes too.
  16. Henrik & Co hamming it up big time.
  17. That sounds like a great gig. I wouldn’t mind playing a bit of Americana myself, in addition to my current band (mod/ska/northern soul/etc) as a contrast.
  18. As others have said, suede backed for the win.
  19. I like to be consistent (at least until someone actually uses it) - Post Burrito Depression.
  20. If the buckle is slipping, set to desired length and put a stitch of cotton around the centre bar of the buckle. I have the same problem with Mono straps.
  21. Hole in the Ground - Bernard Cribbins
  22. Another vote gig bag. I don’t own any bass hard cases now, they’re all gig bags (some more robust than others).
  23. Less maybe, but still an additional cost to the buyer that isn’t immediately obvious to non US residents (Canada is the same, in BC there were 2 taxes that jacked up the price by 14%).
  24. I’m not saying that we’re not being ripped off, it’s almost certain that we are, but bear in mind that the US price will not include their local taxes. IIRC they quote prices without local taxes, as they vary from state to state, rather like here when things are quoted ex vat.
