  1. Outside in the fresh air, preferably in some sunshine (I know, not the time of year) is the best fix.
  2. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
  3. The 2024 challenge has ruined me! 15 days of 2025 have passed, with me free of constraints and I’ve bought bugger all! I’ve just talked myself out of what would be a tier 2 fail and can’t bring myself to spend nearly £200 on a rigid gigbag for my Mustang. WTF is up with me? This is just wrong.
  4. Sure sign of a good decision.
  5. Compared to a Maruszczyk of equivalent spec, that’s a bargain.
  6. Way more classy IMO. Result!
  7. Oh, we’ll soon sort that out. This is the house of gear acquisition syndrome.

  13. The Squier 40th Anniversary model is worth a look.
  14. Shades of Boris playing guitar behind the capo.
  15. That was an absolutely stellar band. Just for my taste, I’d like to have heard more of the neck pickup in Jaco’s tone (I note that he’s playing a fretted here), as they all seem to be occupying much the same tonal space.
  16. Fender did a Mustang with a Wide Range fitted. That said, the right Mustang split coil might be a better way forward. The custom Seymour Duncan in the JMJ can go from roaring P Bass to very dubby. I understand that the Curtis Novak is even more old school.
  17. You’re welcome. It’s what BC is probably best at. It’s either help out a fellow player, or actually play some bass .
  18. I’ve been giving this some thought, whilst listening to a live album of a band with only one guitar player and doing the ironing (a mindless task that allows me to think of other things). What is missing when the rhythm guitar drops out and the lead playing begins? Most times, it’s an upper midrange tone, with some drive. Therefore, having a tone with those components and perhaps playing more (8th notes instead of quarter, 16th instead of 8ths, etc), should fill that sonic space. Aim for a Geddy Lee, Chris Squire, etc tone and you shouldn’t be too far off the mark. If you’re already playing with some drive, just add some more at the appropriate juncture, whilst adding more upper midrange (it’ll sound awful soloed, but should work in a band situation).
  19. Sorry, missed that. I’d maybe contact Thomann just to confirm that they are the Beatle Bass length strings, although I’m pretty sure it’s the text that’s wrong, it would not be the first time that their own, added descriptions are off (lots of cut & paste methinks). Just Order them and if they’re the wrong length, send them back. This is a section from the Thomann page for the HB Beatle Bass recommendations, albeit a different gauge…
  20. I think the text added by Thomann is incorrect there, as the packaging says for Beatle Bass. I’d just buy them from Bass Direct to avoid any confusion, same price IIRC.
