I'm out of the country, damn & blast
Yeah, if i could get that tone i would be very happy.
I do of course realise i wouldn't, not from my rig but yeah, its what im looking for.
Cheers.
I reckon you could get pretty close to that tone with your rig, my SUB Ray sounds just like it should through my MB/Schro -
I played on of these at a show, stunning tone, nice full P tone and then you can dial in some MM for a little more "bridgeness". I'm not normally a fan of Surf/Sea Foam Green, but here it just works perfectly. Have a bump.

Pretty sure I saw a gig advertised (in the US ) with AWB supporting TOP, what a line up! -
Anyone selling a rosewood 3TSB Roscoe Beck?
GAS free? NOT! -
OK, so the tone is....unexciting shall we say, but only through the Tascam,
None of my basses sound particularly good through my Tascam so you definitely want to get it going through a good amp. If only Tascam could have used the Korg Pandora tone stack, it would be unbeatable.
Good balanced review of a bass that gets a fair amount of bad press due to it's celeb connection. I haven't played one so can't comment, but I do like the fact that they come in 2 sizes so that kids (or smaller people) can get to grips with our instrument without having to have a short scale Fender or Gibson and at a reasonable price too.
and I like brass nuts, so I'll have one of those too.
Surely these come in pairs and will clang together when walking?
I'll get my coat. -
I would if you weren't so bloody far away

whats the action like etc,
ive always fancied a acoustic but every time ive played one the action etc has been terrible!!!!
kindest regards
ziggy.
The action is certainly highter than on my solibodies, but it is still extremely playable and it could come down some more if you were willing to sand down the base of the saddle. This is something I considered originally, but I think it plays fine as is now and I do like a low action. I can give measurements if you like when I get home tomorrow.
I think that's probably the nicest looking acoustic I've ever seen.
Thanks, yes it is spectacular. -
Christmas Day bump. Gone on spend your Xmas money on this beauty, you know you want to!

I preferred the passive 414 to the 614 when I tried them, just a nicer, warmer tone to my ears, but both well built, really good basses and definitely better value than the new BB2024 which is £2,300 for a boutique BB414!
I believe that any 'irie' reggae played well will get the people on the dance floor
There's the truth right there and I think the same goes for Ska too. -
But on the subject of BGM, the new issue (Zender on the cover) is already in Smiths, and yet again my subscription copy hasn't arrived.
I think subscribers are going to be the victims of the Xmas post.
EDIT It's just arrived! -
As you're wanting a lined fretless, defretting your Yammy seems like a good idea. I had my MM SUB defretted a good while back and I was very pleased with the results. I also had the pearloid dot markers filled in with rosewood dots for a cleaner look. Big up for the guys at The Gallery in Camden who did the work, it cost me £110 including a set of LaBella flatwounds, so £200 seems a bit steep.

To quote one of my previous posts "Bandmates, can't work with them, can't soak them in napalm and watch them melt".
Ditch the prima donna and get someone new. -
Soooo much better!
iirc it was played on a fretless musicman sabre, with mutes
i may be wrong...i may be right.
You are correct Sir, TL still uses his fretless Sabre for playing this live with Peter Gabriel. It's the one with the THRAK sticker on it.
Oh dear I am a sad TL anorak! -
Fretless MM played with a pick through an octave pedal (a bit of chorus won't go amiss either).
Almost worth it just for the fantastic PRS gig bag.
Yes the gigbag is a marvellous thing.
Great Xmas pressie bump -
As it 'appens, I picked it up in the shop yesterday - I haven't seen it for a couple of months - and I couldn't believe it. It felt like a pamphlet.
I put it back on the shelf...
Me too, I think if you held it up to the light you could see through it! -
I gotta ask (yeah I know it's rude, but I'm OK with it) how much was that bad boy?

And replied. -
Best BGM for ages, if not ever. Great balance. I loved it when the Brit Funk pack went completely off topic and started taliking about Pino's playing on Voodoo (surely an R&B recording and nowt to do with funk). Still the odd printing error, but these happen and when the mag is properly entertaining these cease to be an annoyance. More like this please (and the often requested interviews with Pino and Bruce Thomas).
PS. Love the look of your red Squier P Andrew.
