The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
ezbass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Literally unloaded my Sterling Shorty Ray today! Timing is everything. -

I think to be a bassist’s bassist, the candidates should be session musicians at the very least not the person fronting the band that they’re in, or solo musicians, which removes McCartney, Lee, King, Claypool, Graham and Clarke, at the very least. I see your can of worms and drop the above grenade in the room.

Whilst I realise that it’s impossible to please everyone, I’m surprised that neither Tony Levin, Anthony Jackson or Lee Sklar are listed; 3 session monsters.

Should I get this guitar, or something else?
ezbass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Other Instruments
No, stick to the Revstar. Chris Buck and Matteo Mancuso know a thing or two about guitars, follow their lead. -
You’d think that Seven Nation Army could be used in something.

I suspect that more will be said, however. This is the BC way (to paraphrase The Mandalorian).

There is definitely mileage in this. A great way to tell if the congregation is paying attention.

Of course not, we’re more than happy with the title. The Clash does worship tunes, it’s a brilliant concept.

Beat me to it.

Ooh, you’ve reminded me of one that I’m really not a fan of… painted headstocks, just not for me. Do I have one? Oh yes, but at least it’s black.

Hmm, I would have said anything with a 1.5” nut width, but since buying an HB Mustang-alike, which has the offending width (not as advertised at the time) and that’s actually OK, I have to refine that to 1.5” nut widths with bloom handle profile necks - i.e. ‘70s Fender Jazz style necks. Anything over 4kg is most likely going to be ignored/avoided. TBH, I’ll probably give anything a go in the flesh, as I might be surprised, but online not so much.

A recorded rehearsal with my band from earlier this year. A rough recording, even more roughly mastered in GarageBand (I don't know what I'm doing really).

That is not what I was expecting to read. Hopefully, things will improve at Viv’s end. EDIT: Oh yeah, 3 Sereks? Greedy bugger! -
I had one for a good while, the preamp side was very good. Me neither. I now have a Tech21 VTDI, really nice preamp (lovely mid control), with a very satisfying range of grinds that you can blend in as much, or as little, as you want.

The very reason I use an MXR87, just helps the bass sit better in the mix, rather like when using a compressor during recording/mixing. @Osiris is one of our resident comp experts, care to chime in, Lord of the Dead?

Try enlarging the pickguard hole a little, I find nail files are good for this. Of course it could be the foam has perished a bit. Best way to check is to for the old pg again and see if the fault remains.

ezbass replied to Frank n funker's topic in Bass Guitars
I added extra shielding before fitting it, just in case. It’s fine. -
Looks great in black.

The one I bought from https://www.guitarselectric.co.uk/ fitted fine. It seems to be the standard 13 screw hole pattern. -
You would have thought so, especially as there are some real comp aficionados here.

There’s this review of the Empress on Ovni Labs, but not one for the Alma as far as I can see. http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/empress.shtml
