    We’re on a double bill in Dundee (an hour’s drive for me) and we have the 7-7:45 & 9:15-10:25 shifts, still fitting around the bingo (why they can’t have just one day off is beyond me) 🤦🏻. They tried it on over the fee, but the BL had all the messages agreeing to the sum and was ready to tell them to stuff it. We won’t play there again, which works for me, as I don’t like the venue particularly. I might even be home for midnight, weather permitting🤞.

    What we often refer to as a 7th is a dominant 7th and is the 5th chord in the scale. The correct description of the 7th chord in a scale is given above.

    Ignore YT, stick whatever you want on it. I had a '63 P bass and used rounds all the time with that, no bother. Any damage will take years.

    I learnt the basic 7 and some of the others as part of my guitar (I know), Musician’s Institute course. Never consciously used them after that. I think that they’re useful for analysing parts (I instantly recognised the use of the Phrygian for the outro of Steely Dan’s, Haitian Divorce, for instance), but for actually, in the moment playing, or writing a line, not so much. In short, I find them more of a mental exercise than a musical one.

    I saw on instagram that Scott Devine’s daughter received her first bass for Christmas, a Bronco. Glad to see that he is starting her on something basic. Also, the state of her very red, right hand, index finger, is testament to her in at the deep end, going for it mentality, she had to play something for the camera using her middle finger only - kudos, young lady, kudos.

    I received the same as last year, sweet FA, bass related. My only gift was from my daughter, a coffee mug. I should point out that by mutual consent, Lady Ez and I stopped giving each other Christmas pressies years ago - don’t feel sorry for me. As I will not be signing up for the 2025 abstinence challenge (this year has been hard enough), I may buy myself a birthday pressie in a few weeks’ time.
