  1. I like a 0.1 cap. It's what was on my old '63P and I've fitted that value to my 2 custom basses. That said, I think the cap in my JMJ Mustang is 0.05 and that does a perfectly fine job.
  2. Good point.
  3. IIRC there is a push/push switch on the volume control, on the SS ‘Ray, that engages a volume cut cap, it could be that there is something amiss with this.
  4. Fight for Your Right - Beastie Boys Great track from the fantastic album, Gold Plated.
  5. Plenty of 34” scale 5 strings out there (‘Ray5 for example) so a 34”, 4 string, tuned BEAD, shouldn’t be an issue. Avoiding smaller tuner capstans will remove any need for alterations there (Fender/MM/etc type). However, widening of the fret slots will probably be required, as all 4 slots will be taking a thicker string than intended, unless you go for a gauge that is light enough to negate this small modification.
  6. I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am - Herman's Hermits
  7. Crest of a Wave - Rory Gallagher
  8. Orinoco Flow - Enya
  9. Can’t Keep It In - Cat Stevens
  10. Promised You A Miracle - Simple Minds
  11. Brother Can You Spare A Dime - Bing Crosby
  12. How are you finding the transition from EUB to proper doghouse?
  13. East Bound and Down - Jerry Reid
  14. Start It Up - The Stones
  15. That’s a great colour, blue in some light, greener in others
  16. Aero-plane - RHCP
  17. Marathon - Rush
  18. I think my 33" Elwood L fretless is a whisker over 7lbs and my fretted one not much more. Both have ultra-light tuners, but also drop D tuners. Both are alder bodied and maple topped, with a clear, satin finish. If they were all alder, they would weigh a bit less. I had a Jake L a few years back, seemed to weigh about the same as those 2 (perhaps a fraction more), but it was 34" and had normal tuners.
  19. I Shot The Sheriff - Bob Marley
  20. My Phil Jones rig is full of 5” speakers, so an 8” will be fine for your purposes, just pick something you like the look of really. The Ampeg at least has some aesthetic thought gone into it.
  21. ^^^^This, especially the bold bit.
  22. Flash Bang Wallop - Tommy Steele
  23. Enola Gay - OMD
