  1. I’m quite envious. The Mod/Ska/‘60s band I’m in, indulge in some reggae-esque tunes. It’s always fun when we do.
  2. Hand Cannot Erase - Steven Wilson
  3. Sloop John B - Beach Boys
  4. But not surprised.
  5. Ink In The Well - David Sylvian
  6. This tends to be me too. It’s not like I’m in a mad panic to get away, that might seem rude, but I’ll probably be off part way through the next set. That said, my next support is only 40mins down the road, so I might stay for a bit longer. Our BL tends to stay on for any other bands, so there is a band representative there, but he’s more local.
  7. I’ve seen WA (both versions) more than any other band and I’ve always been left a bit deflated. There always seemed to be a bit of going through the motions, with the non original members merely filling a space, rather than bringing something to the the performance. The best shows of WA tunes I’ve seen, was delivered by the tribute band Ashbone-U-Wish (sadly no more), whom I’ve seen more than once (for complete transparency, AUW was made up of friends of mine, but this probably makes me more critical, rather than just bigging up my mates).
  8. Quality! He makes that P look like a short scale.
  9. On Any Udder Day - The Police
  10. Doh, A Deer - Julie Andrews
  11. Pub landlords/ladies are like farmers, they never say that business is good. TBF things might be tough, but never to the extent that they make out. The real problem is that when they start talking down the state of play, it almost becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. If people go to the venue because of the music, reducing it, or messing with a proven formula, will actually reduce their footfall. Venues have been getting away with murder when it comes to the band’s fee, it’s still the same today as it was 12+ years ago, but they’ll still claim it’s too expensive .
  12. I believe Fender do them as spares. The one time I had to do it, I just found one in my box of bits that would fit in the rod space and reamed out the washer’s hole to fit over the thread.
  13. Take off the rod’s nut, put a washer on and replace. That’ll give you some more adjustment.
  14. Monday Monday - Mamas & Papas
  15. Cigareetes, Whisky and Wild, Wild Women - Sons of the Pioneers
  16. 2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden
  17. Sixteen Tons - Tennessee Ernie Ford
  18. It was hearing one being played on Saturday Night Live that sent me down the short scale rabbit hole. I’d like a Midwestern, but think I’d prefer a Wilcock Mullarkey (I played one, it was glorious).
  19. I went to school at Wilson’s, before it moved, now Camberwell School of Art.
  20. 50 Ways To Love Your Lever - P Simon
  21. Ask them to buy you a Wilcock or a Serek, they’ll pipe down pretty sharpish
  22. I don’t know about that, but Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson lived there, when they were a couple. My first wife lived in East Dulwich (off of East Dulwich Grove) as did two of my school chums (off Dog Kennel Hill). I had my very first pint in the Lord Palmerston on Lordship Lane and was a regular in The Forester’s.
  23. If you don’t want music and want a blether, go to a ‘Spoons; FFS! Punters, eh?
  24. A ways off at the moment, but we’re supporting local heroes, The Owls on St Andrew’s night or, as it is being named by the the organisers, St SKAndrew’s Night (which I think is quite clever, even if they’ve missed the apostrophe 🤦🏻).
  25. Watched One Love last night. Whilst I think there was some woeful miscasting, having Aston Barrett Jr play his dad was inspired.
