  1. From a story I heard about Norman, you'd have been fine and he would have probably bought you a drink.
  2. I've been using EB Cobalt flats on my J type for years. I have them on nearly all my basses.
  3. You should be in for a treat. Norman aside, Chaz and Johnny are worth going to see.
  4. Although that doesn't sound terrible for a vanity plate from what I gather. That said, I can of many other things I'd rather spend £600 on. Plus, I assume that there is also another cost to reregister the vehicle it's being attached to.
  5. Ah, but did he sweat like the great Norman? I've never seen anyone soak through a suit so thoroughly and so quickly than NWR. Not an issue now of course .
  6. That's a good description, not that it affected my playing of the bass, I actually miss that one. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'd like to see a photo of that.
  7. Like they don't have enough to do already.
  8. History would indicate in the negative, sadly.
  9. I currently have 2 fretless basses that are both ebony and I've had an Ebanol one in the past (a GWB35). Tonally, who can say? They're all different basses so have their own intrinsic tone, whether that's down to the fingerboard material, who knows, but I doubt it (YMMV)? What I will say is that Ebanol seems to mark up quicker or is, at least, more obvious (a certain greyness on the wear areas). I also have an EUB that sports a Coform 'board (whatever that is?) that works just fine too.
  10. The vocals are hanging back way too much there and I can't hear the bass; clank, Man, CLANK! As to the new tune, s'alright, doesn't make me want to tear my ears off to away from it, but it doesn't make me want to play it again, probably ever.
  11. I'm impressed that there are adjustable pole pieces (or is the poo pieces?).
  12. Love that colour, the best one EBMM do IMO. I had a 'Ray5 in that finish, blue one minute, green the next and all shades in between. GLWTS.
  13. C’mon, you tease, give us more than that.
  14. Maybe Chaz and Johnny are doing the lead vox again, which would be a good thing.
  15. I've seen Norman a few times, he never fails to impress. A nice bloke too, by all accounts.
  16. Excellent! You don’t want a repeat performance of seller’s regret, as I seem to remember you trying to track down a replacement after a particular sale of previous P (IIRC that is).
  17. I quite liked the Fender flats that it came with, although they were a little wooly, although not in a bad way. I fitted my preferred EB Cobalt flats (I know folk have had spot issues with these but, apart from a free set I had during their GG promo a while back, I've been lucky) and they sound and feel better than the Fenders to me. However, I read a lot about fitting roundwounds to Mustangs and went with the D’Addario XLs, which were OK and nicely middy, if a little rough, but eventually I went back to the Cobalts and, to my ears at least, are just as good in the mix and are far more comfy to my fingers. Owners talk about how good the neck and pickup are on the JMJ and they are exceptional, but I feel that the tone control doesn't get enough kudos. It's the only control I've had that matches the one on my old '63 P bass for having so much versatility and varied tonal points. This may have much to do with the interaction with the pickup, rather than just a stand alone component, but all I know is that it works really well; snappy Foxton type tone to dub reggae and all stops in between.
  18. I’m pleased for you. Does this mean any of your others will be receiving much less love and will be shown the door?
  19. Such are the variations in the life of a gigging musician, great that you enjoy the small ones too, have a good one on Tuesday.
