Went to see this on its release too. I was not an LZ fan at the time, it was more just something to do after work. It was alright, I was not moved and found it overindulgent. The song called Stairway something or other was OK though and I bought LZ 4 on the strength of that. No more that 8 weeks later, I had the entire catalogue that was available at that time and I’m still a fan today, with Physical Graffiti being my favourite. Still think the movie is long and not their best output.

In short, yes. Doesn’t make it right though. Very much a case of, just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

The Brune Street location was pretty spectacular, wall to wall basses downstairs and up the walls to the Acoustic Centre, upstairs. They also had offices opposite, which became the outlet once the shop was closed. It then moved the south side of London Bridge, near Guy’s Hospital. Now they’re situated in Bagshot.

I use an M87 as I wanted to add a little punch, without, as has been said above, colouring my signal to any significant degree. It’s also not horribly expensive.

I miss bad hair ☹️. However, I do have quite the collection of hats to keep my bonce warm/protected from the sun, although I don’t tend to wear them on stage any more.

There is a similar thread, although primarily for BCers in hats:

At least.

The labels were, as you’ve guessed, levels of quality, based on country of manufacturer. I tried an FK many, many years ago (can’t remember what level or model, maybe a Perception) and I remember it being somewhat clunky and workmanlike, not adding anything to what was available from the mainstream producers. Things may have changed of course. A quick look at the website reveals that they are very, very guitar centric, with just a nod to the low end community.

There it is. I’ve been on the lookout for wind ups this morning and caught this on Farcebook earlier.

Maruszczyk have been using the 3 over 1 for absolutely ages. Perhaps it’s different enough for EB to be unable let the legal dogs off the leash.

And that’s all that matters. That’s a lovely trio of 51/54 types you have there and I must admit that this style of P is gaining in my affections of late.

I agree, a plain maple one would be my choice. However, not my bass, not my choice. Cracking job there, @kevin_lindsay.

Good spot, Mick. Like many, I’m interested in Bilbo’s well being.

Given that a large number of fretless basses are bridge pickup centric (if that makes sense) I’m not sure the EQ section is that useful, I mean, how honky do you want it. To be fair, that is just probably me as I’ve fallen out love with that particular fretless tone to the point where I’ve acquired a graphic EQ pedal and I’m sucking all those mids out. The chorus and reverb side are nice; instant ‘80s fretless production in a box and it’s a lovely looking box too (stop sniggering at the back).

Lobster called out Fender on YouTube for advertising that the pickups in the shorty Gretsch were 'buckers, when, in fact, they were not. This resulted in a change in the description and an offer of compensation for anyone who had bought one (in a particular time frame). Lobster may be a bit whacky at times, but he has proved himself to be a champion of the consumer.

I see that Maruszczyk are getting in on the Joe Dart action.

Great mix and a song you don't really hear that much, which is a good thing.

It’s more about my comfort than what folk think. The Mustang fits nicely because of the stretched body, whereas I find the ‘Ray a bit cramped, despite having much better upper fret access than the Mustang.
-
I really like the look of these, but I wonder if they might be a bit small for my frame (I have this issue with the shorty 'Ray). Pictures or video of the proud new owner sporting said acquisition would be much appreciated.

Any 5 string short scale tuned E-C would work, I would have thought. There is the dedicated E-C Fender Bass V, but that's vintage and expensive. Perhaps the Squier Bass VI could be an option, albeit with one more string.
