  1. Rosalyn by the Pretty Things. Has the bonus of having a founding member of the Stones on it.
  2. Playing the Royal Hall at Harrogate. Dressing rooms were downstairs. Come showtime and we were wandering around without any idea how to get to the stage. We didn't pass anyone painting scenery but everything else was the same.
  3. The SKB FB4 is pretty much the same case. A much better fit for a Precision bass.
  4. Might make it better for metal. 😄
  5. Great. Let's see if we can make that happen.
  6. The Diesel 2x15 is an amazing cab. Was the mainstay of my sound for 30 years or so. Are you collecting? You're not far from me if you are.
  7. Bought 3 John Entwistle Precisions ('53, '61 and '62), and a '66 slab in there, in the mid 80's.
  8. What horrible news, and what lovely words from his sister. Condolences will be pretty meaningless to his family but they are all I can offer at this dreadful time for them.
  9. May I ask whereabouts he lives? I can share locally if there's any chance he's in this area (Portsmouth).
  10. Deleted. Responding to an older post (and didn't notice!!).
  11. I have to say, I never keep hold of Fender type cases. Basses can move around in them freely.
  12. That was the driver for me. I wanted to feel comfortable on stage. You can't beat nature and so it's a matter of finding the right way to 'go with the flow'. Bigger/luminous side markers work fine for me.
  13. Do you have a budget?
  14. Hi knowledgeable folk. I want to replace the Lace Sensor in my PBAC fretless, but have no idea what wire goes where. Can anyone give any indication about how I can swap these pickups?
  15. This is an incredible bargain for a Jazz bass player.
  16. Would a light mild work as well, or maybe a stout?
  17. Thanks for the link. Do you add the blob of clear nail varnish too? I didn't use these when I was looking, fearing that they'd just come off over time.
  18. I have gone down the larger dot and Luminlay markers routes. I've been playing for 50 years but still find myself slightly panicking if I glance down and don't see the dots.
  19. Steve Harris seems to manage ok. That said, each to their own. Everybody's preference is the right choice for them.
  20. My partner works in the NHS with child trauma, mainly arising from the home environment. They are recruiting but have had no applicants for the roles. This has been the case for years.
  21. I didn't hate it, but an early purchase of a Hondo Ric made me realise the Rickenbacker ergonomics don't work for me. I was gifted a 4000 a few years and it was just the same problem. Just didn't give me anywhere comfortable to rest my thumb. The pickup was too close to the strings and the surround was too far away.
  22. I've just done some gigs with Zaine, culminating in a show at The Water Rats in London. The band included Chris Payne of the Gary Numan band, as well as Clive Edwards (UFO, Wild Horses and others). This was the opening of the show and was shot on a camera phone so the mix isn't perfect. 23. I would agree with the MIJ PB70 suggestion, and Chris's suggestion re the signature bass. A Nate Mendel signature has the same neck profile and would fit the bill.
  24. We're straying into maple vs rosewood territory here. Sound is always subjective. I (as do others) believe that a maple board will give a bass a slightly brighter overall sound. Many will disagree. I just don't get on with maple boards at all. Apart from the sound, they just feel 'harder'. That is very much just my own opinion.
  25. and recorded on a Tuesday.
