  1. If you contact Steve at the Guitar Centre on the roundabout at Cosham. I am sure they do lessons there.
  2. Dreadfully sad news.
  3. Count me in, for sure.
  4. Use the search function, using the user name.
  5. A mate of mine managed a Polish band (the Poise Rite - great they are too). They were down to support Lenny Kravitz at a stadium. During their sound check, they were told to stop because Mr Kravitz was asleep back stage. They were then told that Mr Kravitz didn't want a support on the gig, so they didn't get to play at all. I fancy they were a trifle miffed.
  6. Seriously tempted (even though it is me that fitted the upgrades to this bass). I don't 'do' Stingrays, but a near free one is hard to resist.
  7. Yes indeed.
  8. That's an insane price for an extremely good bass that is a gnats away from being 'real' and worth a lot more. If you want the Stingray sound it's right here for 200 quid.
  9. I'm pretty certain that any reverse wind ones will be of the large plate variety, and the holes won't line up. The existing holes will be hidden. I have done this myself in the past. The holes on the right may line up ok.
  10. 1 pic shows an L series serial. That makes it 1965 I believe. No result from the Fender look up link, but seems it could be 1963.
  11. Routines? You joining Take That?
  12. You won't be surprised to see me mention Rotosound. I used them for years and then got a deal, not the other way round. I use Nickel rounds on the bass with rounds and Jazz for the others. Great strings and good value, too.
  13. Similar thing here. A guy who owned two nursing homes. Must have spent most of the profits on a guitar collection and clothes. Trust me when I say no-one looked more like a great guitarist. Imagine a young Jimmie Vaughan making more of an effort. He was a shocking guitarist, mind.
  14. One thing I failed to say (and apologies for the omission) is good luck on the big day!
  15. Personally, no. You can't beat nature so I'm not even trying. If you get the gig, does that mean you're then on a perpetual treadmill?
  16. People can get precious about it. After a few months, the local paper told my first band to change our name. Can't think why, the original Beatles hadn't been active for about 7 years at the time.
  17. The tuners are not reverse wind, Kev, they're the standard later type. Period correct.
  18. I did consider those, but didn't know how long the 'stick' would last. I do have other basses that I use that would benefit. I guess the oldies could have those, so they can be removed when necessary.
  19. I went for large white on some and the Luminlays were the larger green ones - all on rosewood fingerboards.
  20. I've had larger side markers fitted to some of my Precisions, and Luminlay markers added to others for the same reason. I don't get on with maple boards unhappily.
  21. I've never really tried any Gibson basses. I did use an Epiphone Rivoli for a music video, but that was just miming to the track. They have always seemed to have neck dive issues, with which I can't be bothered. I'd love to be cool enough to get away with a thunderbird but a) I'm just not cool enough, and b) I play with a guy who played with Pete Way. Pretty much kills any ambitions there! Otherwise, not really played any of the usual boutique brands. If I'm brutally honest, I simply have no interest. They don't do anything for me either aesthetically or sonically. Similarly, no Warwick, Lakland, Sandberg, Yamaha, Ibanez or the like. Dead boring me, but seemingly happy to be so.
  22. These are wondeful instruments. I had an ash bodied one, too. I think the scratchplate may also be a change, as these came with a black scratchplate originally. Doesn't detract from a terrific bass though. GLWTS.
  23. I know Captain Rumble has one. I use the TT 800 and don't miss my all-valve amps at all.
  24. Just finished a short tour where we used my PA for a couple of gigs. I originally a pair of Alto 15 tops with a 12 sub, but decided to change the 15s for 12s (after reading advice on here). The system is now 2 x Alto TS312s and a TS312S sub. Monitoring is again all Alto, with 3 x 10s and the spare TS312. Mixer is an Alto Live 1604. Slight overkill for the regular band but the separate monitor mixes are useful. I have to say we were astonished at the clarity of the system. Everything was handled easily. Was unable to position the sub according to the recommendations of our experts but wasn't disappointed with the result.
  25. Technically I have 4. Main rig - Mesa TT800 + (2) Mesa Subway 15 cabs Small gig/rehearsal rig - Mesa Walkabout 15 combo Taking to a mate's house rig - GK MB150E In the music room (well, broom cupboard more like) rig - Ampeg Micro-CL (more for the visual joke than anything).
