  1. [Smart ar5e alert] Especially as they haven't existed for 19 years! 🙂
  2. Current line-up (left to right). SQ Squier Precision (about '84), Tokai Jazz Sound (about '82), '66, SVL Reserve, 72/68 'The Wreck', SVL Reserve, '71, Japanese A/E fretless, Greco Spacy Sound (about 1982)
  3. It was indeed, Mike. It's truly a great bass but I can't justify keeping it, just for its looks etc. The plan was to buy the SQ Precision on sale here, but it sold recently (after I snaffled the other one).
  4. For initial sound check for bass, just a 12 bar groove in A. When all instruments/mics done, we play a couple of numbers from the set.
  5. I am just not a Jazz player and there's no point keeping a bass I simply don't play - however pretty it is. This bass plays every bit as good as it looks, it's a real stunner of a bass from the lawsuit era. Lovely candy apple red with matching headstock. It's never had a scratchplate, it would seem and probably looks all the better for it. It's got all the usual Jazz bass sounds in it and it's in great condition. Weight is a reasonable 9.4lbs on the scales. It still has the original Tokai gig bag. It's down near Portsmouth and I'd rather do some driving to meet up, rather than post it but it's not a case of collection only, though very much preferred. Shout out if you want any more information/pictures. Let's get this gone (please) - £575 for some seriously pretty Japanese build quality.
  6. I've done a few weekends. Monica and her Boogaloo promotions predominantly. Done Skeggy too. In all cases, decent money and well looked after.
  7. Surely you mean "all the basses you'll ever need - and a Jazz bass" 🙂
  8. The Independent also said "Axl Rose flips between a lower register that resembles a clogged lawnmower and a higher one that sounds like Barry Gibb suffering the mother of all wedgies". 🙂
  9. Might be worth adding (as it's a popular thing now, it seems) that this wonderful thing will run at 2 ohms (using the top pair of speaker outputs - the wording is on the top of the chassis). Even the cabs are wide-eyed and open mouthed at how good this is!
  10. Just back from trying/buying a Squier Precision from Charlie. Lovely guy to meet and chat with. Very knowledgeable and a good. Thanks Charlie.
  11. Just a bit of a follow-up on mine. I did say I wouldn't be using it on stage. That has proved to be a lie. It's true the basses can't be stored 'wired up' but I can mute the cable so it's not really any kind of issue, ands I don't really need to use the second (spare) bass anyway. I have a 3 guitar stand for the gigs that need the fretless too, so the Enki will just be for transport. Rhino's Revenge were on after us at Skeggy and Freddie (guitar) had a Scott Dixon that was very dented. Seemed to be perfectly serviceable though. All in all, it's a win for the Enki for me. It's done a good few gigs now and it's top notch protection for the basses.
  12. There are times I wish I was remotely cool enough to play a T-bird. Doubly restricted by playing in a band with an ex UFO and Pete Way Band drummer. Rather too big a pair of boots to fill!
  13. Violin between the ages of 4 and 6. Piano from 6 to about 13 (with a stint on church organ during that time) and then self-taught on bass. The piano was a brilliant grounding, as it taught me harmony etc.
  14. These are remarkable amps. I can't see it being here for long. GLWTS.
  15. I have a CAR one and it's a superb instrument. Excellent bass and excellent value.

Almost 8 years and no deterioration in the quality of service! Bought V-Amp from Mike that arrived quickly and was well packaged. Thanks. Steve
  17. Always worth remembering that a mistake is ancient history the moment after it is made. Never beat yourself up about it.
  18. You'd think the Ukrainians could have picked off the board of the BoE easily enough, when they invaded.
  19. In my case, a machine head broke while I was tuning in the dressing room. Couple of odd electrical things over the years, but that's the main one.
  20. Generally, go with the singer (IMHO) if they make a mistake, otherwise plough on and let the miscreant find their way back (or stop playing!!). I wouldn't do the 'pointed look' as it will apparent to them that they've sphered it up and it alerts the audience to the fact. We might say that we played the jazz version when the number has finished.
