NBD: 1971 Precision... from Bermuda to Tyneside
Steve Browning replied to wateroftyne's topic in Bass Guitars
I have a 1972 bridge on which one of the saddles collapsed. I changed the bridge on the bass and so have a 3 string bridge spare. I would be inclined to keep the 3 remaining screws etc (as spares for one of my other old basses) but I can send you the bridge plate if you want one without the drill holes. I guess you could (with care) swap the screws etc and maintain the string length/height etc. The bass it came off is a bit of a hotch potch of bits (combo of 1968/1972 parts) so I'm not sacrificing a fortune in resale value. Drop me a message if you want me to send it to you. -
Stay at the same volume and get the band to play quieter. The old school method.

Well, this is the plaice for it. Not the sole place, of course. -
Absolutely. If it's him you can rest assured all will be above board. Worth making sure though.

Why do People Like James Jamerson’s Sound?

Really interesting. Thank you. Funnily enough, I had always thought that was a slightly 'un bass-player like' bass line. -

That is what a bass guitar should look like. IMHO, naturally. -

I'm not aware any bass lines were written for him. -

I'm reminded of a certain tv and radio personality who died an innocent man, but certainly wasn't. -

I was going to post about Lorri Maddox being 13 at the time of her union with Jimmy Page and was looking at the history of the age of consent in the US, not wanting to get things wrong. Rather stunned to read that in 1880, the age of consent was generally between 10 and 12. I then read that, in Delaware it was 7!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Fair amount of competition for sonic space among that lot!! -
Whiskey, surely! 🙂

Been there, so my sympathies. Needs must sometimes.

No words needed really. It was love at first sight (the bass!!) and I was soon to discover that a friend's brother had one in the same colour. I can still feel the wonder as he opened the case it was in.

My trusty old '66. Just feels part of me when I'm playing it. Been together for close on 40 years now.

Choosing 'the one' means a decision regarding two basses. Either 1953 Precision (#0189) or the 1966 slab Precision. It's a difficult choice. Both sounded huge and both were uncomfortable to play for a long period (the edge would dig into my forearm when I was playing). On balance, I guess it would be the 1953 bass. The 66 is very rare but the 1953 has the history and I have a good few Precisions in the post-1957 form. The only picture I have of it, hanging next to my 1966 Jazz (another one that would worth a bit now!!). -
Using 2 different basses into 1 amp input

I was going to offer an answer but (happily) Jack has given you an example that is tried and tested. If it's good enough for him ...
