  1. Here's the video about taking amps etc on tour to Europe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSzelR8A1pU&list=PLuG8N8pz1_4b-mgb79GIpKAe_NMS68gYY&index=3&ab_channel=UkEuropeartswork
  2. All goods that are imported/exported make use of commodity codes. They are harmonised across most of the world and are used to determine the rate of Duty on goods upon import. The exporter will usually be the one allocating the code on the transit documents. In the case of sending anything out of the UK, I would expect the carrier to do that job, based upon the description of the goods you provide. Eg: 85180000 Microphones and stands therefor; loudspeakers, whether or not mounted in their enclosures; headphones and earphones, whether or not combined with a microphone, and sets consisting of a microphone and one or more loudspeakers; audio-frequency electric amplifiers; electric sound amplifier sets : (TN701) 85190000 Sound recording or sound reproducing apparatus : (TN701) Musical instruments, the sound of which is produced, or must be amplified, electrically (for example, organs, guitars, accordions) : (TN701) 9207 90 10 - - Guitars The EORI number is used by VAT registered businesses and so would not usually be required if you're just selling basses you have used yourself. In most countries, the EORI number is based on the VAT number itself.
  3. There's a very good video on YouTube by a guy who explains it very well, and attaches links to the EU and UK legislation that he suggests you print and carry with you. More detailed information doesn't always get to the coal face quickly. I'll find the link when I'm not on my phone.
  4. Oops. I was responding as you were posting! I'll reply to this post in a bit.
  5. There has been an extension of the accompanied musical instrument rules and you can travel with an instrument and the means for it to make a noise. A band travelling in a van with their kit should be OK. I'm sure you know what you meant but it is the buyer being taxed. Not the flogger. Additionally, very little of what we would buy has its origins in the EU.
  6. Just taken delivery of a Harvest gig bag from Chris. Kept me informed at every step and even sent a picture of the package article. When the 4 minute siren goes, I'm just going to crawl into the box and I'll be safe in there! An exceptional guy with whom you can deal in total confidence. Steve
  7. Hopefully makes an exception for, at least, one bass player!
  8. 'Cos it's in D minor.
  9. Rather simple. 9 Precisions. To be fair, one of them has rounds on it!
  10. Rounds - just a fad that people'll grow out of! 🙂
  11. If near Portsmouth is also near Waterlooville, you're welcome to dive over and try out some options. I have a few Squiers and bitsas you can try and get a feel for what you might want. That might guide you in your search for your bass.
  12. Interesting (re Jim Moir). I have just watched an interview with Bob Mortimer (interviewed by Rob Brydon) and 6 minutes in, Rob Brydon asks how he had the confidence to go on stage as, apart from being a bass player in a band, he had no performing 'urge'.
  13. There was a sort of 10cc or Queen situation when they both first emerged. I was in the latter camp, but do appreciate their ability. They seemed a bit too clever for themselves for me. Can't argue with their success though.
  14. Hello from Waterlooville. As said, a Squier is a fine instrument and there are several in the ads here. Welcome aboard.
  15. Just sold a Geezer Butler pick-up to Terry. Entire deal done in 22 minutes. Perfect and a highly recommended BC'er. Steve
  16. Is commenting compulsory? Expressing sorrow isn't mandatory.
  17. I have my Mesa TT-800s for the main gigs. Mesa Walkabout 15 for rehearsals, recording and smaller gigs. I have a Gallien Krueger MB150E to take round a mate's place to run through stuff and an Ampeg Micro-CL set up in my music room. The two that count (the Mesa rigs) are just about portability. No great difference in sound.
  18. Emailed enquiry about Lindy Fralin pickup at 6pm Wednesday. Response received at 7:20pm. Ordered at 7:19 yesterday and fitted into the bass this afternoon. Can't argue with that.
  19. It doesn't appear additional feedback is needed, but just installed a Precision loom from John. Very straightforward and spares me the angst of safely operating a soldering iron.
  20. Removed from recent acquisition, to make way for my preferred Lindy Fralin pick-up. The set is complete and in the original box. By that, I mean it comes with the input jack and pots. A complete re-wire in a box. The picture is not of the actual item but there is no difference. Price includes UK delivery. I am happy to hand it over at any destination on mainland Europe, if you are willing to pay my expenses. Postage can also be arranged if you find that more agreeable. Let's try and get this gone - £50 delivered to the UK.

  21. Just taken delivery of a very fine bitsa from Brian. Effortless transaction and delivered super quick and very well packaged. Cheers Brian, you're an absolute star. Steve
  22. I would fully expect that you'll sell to them at full price and you'll buy from them at full price. In general, tax sees transactions independently of each other. VAT and Duty are charged by HMRC and your p/x bass will be subject to import charges in Japan.
  23. No suggestion she actually played but any excuse to post a picture of the goddess Kate Bush.
  24. That will do nicely. PM sent.
