  1. Waterlooville, which is near Portsmouth, on the South coast.
  2. That's not a huge distance. If you want, we could find a rehearsal place roughly half way between us.
  3. Acoustically, certainly, but I am only really thinking aloud here. If the body makes no difference then, amplified, would not all three sound the same because (as far as the pickup is concerned) they are the same? Not trying to be argumentative but just trying to understand how it all works.
  4. Just seen this thread. I am, indeed, a long time Mesa user. That's very much down to the quality of the gear itself. The TT-800s have just finished a two week UK tour and been excellent throughout. The combination of the Subway heads and cabs has proved to be a continuation of my original Bass400/Diesel set up. Where are you @Smiles? You're welcome to try my rig out if it's feasible.
  5. I completely understand this. However, how does this work in the context of a Les Paul, 335 and big bodied 175, all with the same pickups, controls etc. They don't appear to sound the same but maybe there's something else at play.
  6. We could have our first round of Basschat gazumping!
  7. I hate to be THAT person, but what's the weight please?
  8. Just finished a tour as part of the Pompatus Of Love, backing Steve Miller guitarist Greg Douglass. This was a live Facebook broadcast. Small but enthusiastic crowd. https://www.facebook.com/GRATEFULDEADBOOKS/videos/508190320946793
  9. Thank you. It was good to see you.
  10. All I can say is that I am 10 days into a tour and the TT-800s are performing and sounding wonderful. I don't perceive any difference in sound between any of the Mesa rigs I've had (whether full valve or hybrid). As ever, it's horses for courses.
  11. Another one ... Brighton's finest, the Desperate Dan Band around 1985. My last non-Boogie rig. Peavey 1820 cab (great at lows and tops but notes in the middle just disappeared) and Acoustic 220. That Marshall combo was 18 watts and produced the best guitar sound I've ever heard.
  12. Yes. That's great at that price. Finishes at 13:05 UK time.
  13. Hoyer. There's a name. Links to the Stuart Adamson thread as he tracked down the white Hoyer Les Paul brandished by Bill Nelson on the cover of the first Be Bop Deluxe album cover. Apologies for the slight derail.
  14. Another vote for VLC. Dead easy to use and does exactly what you want, for zero cost.
  15. Recording the Eve Of Destruction video on Dungeness beach (with The Pretty Things) - borrowed Rivoli bass! Touring with David Aguilar and Roy Blumenfeld Teed Up in Holland Sorry. Wrong picture This was an acoustic performance in a record shop.
  16. Not sure where you are but you're welcome to try the amp if it's do'able.
  17. The TT-800 has a channel that aims to reproduce the tone of a Bass 400+ and has a valve front end. The D800 is fully digital. The D800 is a fine amp but the TT is closer to what you have now.
  18. Excellent choice. I went from Diesel cabs to Subway and am enjoying the same sound without the weight (a Road Ready 2x18 is 107kg). When things open up again fully, I strongly recommend looking at a TT-800. I went from Bass 400 to 400+, then M-Pulse to TT-800 with the same sound and a fraction of the weight. The TT-800 rack ears weight more than the amp!
  19. Looks as though it might be sold.
  20. I would check with @agedhorse but I note the manual (under the DI Level Switch heading) talks about using the 800 as a pre-amp. I have my TT-800s running even though only one has a speaker connected at a time.
  21. Given that my non-Precision itch is well and truly scratched now. I would only apply these criteria to a Precision-type instrument. I assume it is in good order (no bent neck etc). Similarly, I wouldn't consider a slab bodied instrument now (that's a lie because I'd love to have my '66 slab back) so this list applies to bog standard basses. weight 50's style nut width (I am so used to the late 60's early 70's B profile) colour (for some reason I find white basses look enormous when I play one) Precisions tend not to do neck dive so that's not a consideration. All the other stuff is easily replaced if the basic instrument is good.
  22. That's the Railway Hotel on 3rd May.
  23. Closest gigs are Nantwich and Preston I'm afraid.
  24. I understand. I'm playing at the Back Room at the Green Hotel. I'm in the band for a UK tour with Greg Douglass, who was the lead guitarist with Steve Miller.
  25. That is very kind. Kinross is a bit of a trek for you, but I'm playing there in about 4 weeks and you would have been (and are) welcome to pop along and see if it's worth the wait (or if you want to take the chap up on his offer).,
