  1. I am too conscious of the damage I could do by getting it wrong (however easy others find it).
  2. So that's two things we disagree about then. 🙂
  3. Impressive. I guess you are capable of designing and building all your own amps and loudspeakers?
  4. I have always shied away from doing anything (lack of confidence) but I invested in the Fender Bass Haynes Manual and that enabled me to tackle things. I have used a tech on a couple of occasions since, but certainly tackle things I didn't used to.
  5. Yes. This was in the basement of the Ecuadorian Embassy. 🙂
  6. Mine hasn't, no. John Deacon on Queen 2 from the moment I heard it, to now.
  7. Only sit for our acoustic gigs. I usually perch nonchalantly on the amp!
  8. Mind you, at least there's no more kicking myself for missing out on a great looking bitsa.
  9. I'm going to have to wait for the report before I can comment. 🙂
  10. Mainly two basses. They were sold to finance life in general, and they were a bit uncomfortable to play over a period of time (sharp edges cutting into my forearm). 1953 Precision - #0189. 1966 Slab Precision - #137800.
  11. You need to join forces with Bob.
  12. We could be the first band to split up for grammatical differences. 🙂
  13. Beautiful (almost literally). GLWTS.
  14. Do you know I've never heard that before.
  15. There is a guitarist in the midlands by the name Steve Browning. Close to me here is a soundman called Steve Browning. If I can find a drummer with the same name we're set up and ready to go!!
  16. Well, if Sade need a bass player - I'm in.
  17. Usually the carrier will pay that and seek reimbursement before they deliver it.
  18. Squier Classic Vibe Pbass as a spare. If you want a change then Sterling SUB Stingray (but fit a Retrovibe Stinger as it's a brilliant pre-amp). All within budget.
  19. I found this bass almost 40 years ago and it has been my number 1 bass ever since. I don't gig it too much now, but I do occasionally (always for recording). It is light, resonant, the neck is beautifully worn and smooth and it sounds absolutely right for everything I play (or want to). It isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's been perfect for me since the day I first picked it up.
  20. John Deacon on early Queen stuff. Bohemian Rhapsody is flats.
  21. That's very odd indeed. Hard to think of anything used in the construction/finishing of a new bass that would look like that.
  22. I actually have both. I have a tuner in the amp rack and one on the board. The board just has a switcher on it and I don't need it for every gig so the duplication is occasional.
  23. How about (in a deep voice) - "a new bass for me, some man juice for you". It could work. 🙂
  24. After ages not being used, I wired up my Live 1604 mixer and found that the onboard DSP effects are not working. The little screen graphics (that show the number of the effect chosen) are illegible but, even so, no effects are available. Not sure whether there has been a build up of condensation during the period of inactivity but it would be a pity to have to buy a new mixer. Is a repair/replacement of the effects unit a viable option? Your thoughts would be appreciated. I could move to an external unit but not want to if it can be avoided.
