  1. That will be interesting. I would presume you've paid UK VAT so I wonder how they'll handle that.
  2. I can only compare the sound of these two against the Diesel 2x15 that they replaced. To my ears, the sound is the same. Again, to my ears, my sound hasn't materially changed throughout my journey from full valve, through valve/mos:fet to valve/digital. That's been an entirely Mesa powered transition. That was (for comparisons sake) Bass 400 - Diesel 2x15 M-Pulse 600 - Diesel 2x15 M-Pulse 600 - Subway 1x15s TT-800 - Subway 1x15s
  3. Yes, I may get some casters added to the rear door of the flightcase. It's more awkward than heavy (as you rightly say). Sounds ok, mind. 🙂
  4. It's already been seen but here's my stage rig.
  5. Hey, you can jump in the car and drive down to collect it!! 🙂
  6. Have to say I found the Compact to be a bit too 'hi-fi'. Obviously Subway 15's all the way for me (but I am biased).
  7. There are special arrangements for this (Inward or Outward processing relief) but this neds arranging in advance. It makes for an interesting point as everything is potentially faulty.
  8. The supply will be made from the establishment most closely linked to the supply. If the order is from Germany and exceeds the £135 limit, it will be a German export.
  9. From HMRC What the £135 threshold is based on The starting point for determining whether a sale of goods located outside of the UK, made to a UK consumer, is subject to UK supply VAT under this measure is to consider whether the selling price of the goods exceeds £135, exclusive of VAT. For this purpose, the value should be based on the ‘intrinsic value’ of the goods, which equates to the price at which the goods are sold, excluding: transport and insurance costs, unless they are included in the price and not separately indicated on the invoice any other taxes and charges identifiable by the customs authorities from any relevant documents
  10. There must be a reason but I never trust people who have a user name that doesn't start with a capital letter. That rings alarm bells for me.
  11. 79 quid from Thomann comes under the 135 limit so that would be ££94.80 + delivery.
  12. Yes and that's exactly what it sounds like to me. Does make me think I'd pair my 15s with a 2x10 rather than a 2x12.
  13. I had a Clearlink Send as the final link between the board and my amp rack. It was effective. I only got rid of it because my new switcher had that functionality built in.
  14. I think that's a fair summary. The big difference is in the 2nd hand market (and increases the cost for buyers, in the EU, of UK stuff).
  15. Maybe get them to dismantle the item and sell it in a number of small packages at £135 or less.
  16. HMRC say this (in guidance updated on 31/12/20) - love the way the form still has a Customs & Excise number!! There are links to further information from the form link. Nice and easy eh? Claims for rejected imports You can claim repayment or remission on goods imported from outside the UK when: you’ve rejected the goods because at the time of declaring them to a customs procedure they’re: defective damaged before being cleared by customs not compliant with the terms of the contract you imported them under they’re the same goods from the original customs declaration you’ve not used any goods, other than the minimum necessary to establish they were defective or did not comply with the contract you’ve not sold the goods after finding them to be defective, damaged or not compliant with the contract you’ll re-export or destroy the goods You cannot make a claim if you already knew the goods were damaged or defective when the contract for sale was made. You must submit form C&E1179 at least 48 hours before the goods are packed for re-export or destruction.
  17. The visa bit is an inconvenience for sure but, as I have said, if the carnet is required you're looking at significant cost. It would be dull to have to arrange visas but a bit of time spent on-line would take care of it.
  18. In fairness, this is a discussion on politicians rather than politics. I think it's fair comment to say that politicians, these days, exhibit a marked tendency to stay in post when they have done things that would have been career-ending a few years ago. I should add that this is not just the UK either. There was a time when openly mocking/imitating someone with a disability would have been the last time such a person was able to aspire to/hold any kind of political office.
  19. Absolutely. I was trying to persuade and nothing more for exactly that reason. I maintain that having the thread available to someone landing on the page for the first time is preferable but fully respect the right of the admin/mod to act as they see fit. Anyway, I'll get back in my box now. 🙂
  20. I did PM Hamster but had thought my PM was being ignored. Possibly wrongly.
  21. I do play it a fair bit. My 'office' at home is also the 'music room' - the apostrophes are used to indicate the generosity of using those terms - and so my basses are all in the same room with me during the day. I will pick one up (or stand up) and plunk away when tax becomes too dull to contemplate!! 🙂
  22. Whingeing? I am questioning, that's what intelligent people do. Obviously we cannot protect the world but we have had some success for people, because he has refunded some (who believe that this thread facilitated that). It seems a shame to take our foot off the gas when we are having that success. Maybe it's my old training. Once you sink your 'tax' teeth into something bad you tend to keep lock them shut. He's not ripped me off so it's no financial skin off my nose but he's getting one over on virtual friends/colleagues of mine and I take exception to that. Hamster, yes I am disappointed but I also recognise that volunteers aren't going to put themselves in the firing line needlessly. He's hardly John Hall but the principle is the same (and it's your ball). 🙂
  23. Which future member (and potential victim) will know any of that? Once the thread has dropped off the first page it is invisible except for those in the know. I think we should keep a warning about this guy easily available. I found the comment from the admin (caveat emptor) rather disappointing. Given that Mason can see all this we seem to be nothing more than keyboard warriors. The pressure we had brought to bear caused some to be refunded and for outlets for his criminality to be reduced.
  24. I will look into it tomorrow and post the response. You will get the VAT back but I will check the mechanism.
