The long and short of it is will cost you a bit more than before. Frankly, if you want it and it may not be available for a while, I would be going ahead. You will pay a few quid more and you will have to wait an extra few days but that could be worth it, in the scheme of things.

I have been told that it is down to caveat emptor.

Delusions.

Maybe I should rephrase my question. We, as a community, know about an active fraudster. How complicit are we if we are open to the accusation that we enabled him by shutting down an effective warning to others?

I own one. 🙂

Not sure how there is any legal threat around the thread but that is not my question. It seems to me it is important to keep this individual above the radar. With the specific thread locked, this drops down and eventually out. How can we make sure that our community is aware (and on the look-out) for him and his activities?

They are superb amps for sure. Love mine.

Maybe they were just being rebellious. I'll get my coat. -
I suspect the carnet situation is going to be the killer aspect.

Let me check. The news came from a VAT firm called Avalara who are really good on this stuff.

I'd be tempted to have a serious look at the Nate Mendel in the ads at the moment,

I believe it is as I said, Thomann importing into the UK and selling within the UK. That is consistent with the HMC guidance published. German VAT is 19%.

France looks ok from this but I didn't look at other countries that you might go through to get anywhere.

From HMRC Entry requirements If you’re travelling to the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein for less than 90 days in a 180-day period, you may be able to do some things without getting a visa or work permit, for example going to a business meeting. You may need a visa, work permit or other documentation if you’re planning to stay for longer than 90 days in a 180-day period, or if you’ll be doing any of the following: transferring from the UK branch of a company to a branch in a different country (‘intra-corporate transfer’), even for a short period of time carrying out contracts to provide a service to a client in another country in which your employer has no presence providing services in another country as a self-employed person For France (gateway to Europe for many) to stay longer, to work or study, for business travel or for other reasons, you will need to meet the French government’s entry requirements. Check with the French Embassy what type of visa and/or work permit you may need From French Embassy UK citizens going to France to work for up to 90 days will not require a visa. They will need to obtain a temporary work permit unless travelling for a sporting, cultural or scientific event, a seminar or trade show, the production and broadcast of cinematographic and audiovisual works, modelling, IT/ asset management/ insurance/ finance/ design/ engineering audit or expertise missions.

I got a Burman one on Ebay for similar money. It has a row of lights to denote the voltage.

In Portsmouth we now have a motorway with a 40 mph speed limit in order for lorries to negotiate the lane crossing to get to the Customs area that has been established. Not the end of the world but hardly a motorway.

I think that is due to UK VAT being charged. HMRC have said that there is no import VAT on these consignments and so Thomann must be importing in their name and charging local VAT. Seems they've got themselves well organised.

I know I bang on about them but a Fender Japan Precision, especially one of the models with a US in the model name are exceptional. A PB75US is a terrific instrument and cheaper than a US. Quality is consistently high.

NCD: oops, how did that get into the house?

I think the answer to the OP question is "in your back pocket!!" -
I have noted in another thread that the rules from NI changed on Friday. NI sales/purchases from GB are treated as domestic and not exported/imported to/from NI as was previously the case.

1) Quoting from HMRC For imports of goods from outside the UK in consignments not exceeding £135 in value (which aligns with the threshold for customs duty liability), we will be moving the point at which VAT is collected from the point of importation to the point of sale. This will mean that UK supply VAT, rather than import VAT, will be due on these consignments. The new arrangements will also involve the abolition of Low Value Consignment Relief, which relieves import VAT on consignments of goods valued at £15 or less. Online marketplaces (OMPs), where they are involved in facilitating the sale, will be responsible for collecting and accounting for the VAT. For goods sent from overseas and sold directly to UK consumers without OMP involvement, the overseas seller will be required to register and account for the VAT to HMRC. 2) just a slight amendment. You don't receive your goods until you have settled the charges prior to delivery. With regard to 1) I can see some issues. You will note that it still expects UK VAT to be charged. The OMP will be expected to register for VAT in the UK (how many will be botherede for these small value sales and all the paperwork necessary in the UK). Where there is no OMP involvement it reads that the overseas seller must register and account. This could mean that an EU BC'er could hive to register in the UK to charge VAT on their £100 pedal. There is a UK VAT registration threshold of £85k but non-established entities (people overseas) have a nil threshold. Our EU member could be required to register on that basis. Personally, I think I'd be buying these smaller value things from an established EU seller - if you can. I would imagine that the likes of Thomann will take some time to evaluate whether there is enough of this small business to make it worthwhile. This is just my interpretation based on what is here, as things have developed.

Mesa Subway 115 v Barefaced BB2 v Vanderkley 2*112
Steve Browning replied to Pirellithecat's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use a pair of 15's, as you know. I confess I don't see how powering different speaker configurations with the same eq can possibly work efficiently. It does seem popular of course.
