  1. I am at Powerhouse studio at Addlestone on Sunday and will be heading back to Pompey afterwards.
  2. Living In America O'Neill's Portsmouth The Sensational Jonny Deps Bitsa Precision Mesa Walkabout 15 combo
  3. Don't forget that's the VAT element of the value you put on the kit you have at the time. That's 6k of total value (which will be less than you paid of course).
  4. I suggest you read para 7.1 of Public Notice 700/11.
  5. It can do if the amount of VAT is below the threshold.
  6. In relation to the BC marketplace (the subject of the OP) I will make an offer if they are invited. In all other cases, I ask to buy and just pay up immediately. I, too, hate the dance. Just ask a fair price and let that be it. In that instance, the Porsche would have been bought anyway - and sooner.
  7. Not to forget the genius who is Nils Lofgren. Boss and Neil Young sidesman and wonderful solo act.
  8. Surely relicing has to emulate 'real wear'. How would that have ever happened over time? That's just weird.
  9. When I am playing my fretless, to emulate an upright (bear in mind this is very much rockabilly stylee) I will pluck the open string and immediately hammer on to the fingerboard. The peizo pickup and judicious use of the eq gives a very passable sound. I emphasise the word 'passable'. It captures the essence of the slap style of rockabilly.
  10. Absolutely. My Walkabout (the 15" version, too) is an awesome bit of kit. I think you're right about the passive radiator. Makes a huge difference.
  11. There is a topic on precisely this in the paid for part of the site. You can seek advice on value and also offer things for sale in the ads.
  12. I'll be there, subject to gigging commitments. Last year was the first one I'd missed for a while.
  13. Just back from collecting an Alto monitor from Paul. Great guy and would love to have stayed for a chat. One of BC's finest, for sure.
  14. I'm a professor, according to my English Heritage membership. Mind you, I just picked that from the 'title' options when I joined.
  15. I guess that they must be amps I've used, in order to allow an opinion. So, for me they will be Mesa Bass 400 - my introduction to Mesa Boogie. I have had a 400+ but just found the 400 to be more 'open' sounding. The 400+ was a bit 'detailed'. Pairing them was fun! Mesa TT-800 - my current amp. It can do the 400 sound and pretty much everything else. All in a super-light package. Mesa Walkabout/M-Pulse 600. They not exactly the same amp, but share similarities. The Walkabout is integral to my Scout combo (the 15" one) and is another superb sounding amp. The radiator underneath really adds depth to the sound. The M-Pulse was my first hybrid (valve/mos:fet) and it killed off my belief that all valve was the only way to go. No surprises there, I guess. I have owned a 70's Portaflex and played through an SVT on many occasions. The Portaflex was good but wasn't a useful amp on a gig, whereas the Walkabout is gigged regularly and is equally at home in a studio. The SVT is invariably coupled with a fridge and I just don't enjoy playing through 10s. Probably bias on my part, but it's my opinion so I can be!
  16. You even managed to pick the same picture! Great choice.
  17. Welcome to the club. The Walkabout is a truly great amp.
  18. Yes it can. It's just held in its snug fit so you can put it where you want and you can reverse it so store your basses either way round.
  19. I guess my SVLs would be classed as boutique Precisions. They were made from measurements taken from my 66 Pbass. They are certainly over the budget we're talking about, but the picture shows the wiring. That's indicative of Simon's attention to detail, and I was happy to pay it. I've not played a Custom Shop bass, but these basses are flawless. Light and resonant, and beautifully finished. A good bit cheaper than the Custom Shop, too.
  20. Keep it . I am kicking myself over every one of the 4 PB70-US basses I have let go. Possibly the best value Pbass you can get.
  21. Superb basses. I had one in that very colour. A Fender Japan PB-70US is a brilliant instrument.
