The codes on the pot shows it to be a CTS 1960 pot. The coding is 137 followed by the year (two digits) and then the week. I can't make out the week. Serial number is 60/61.

John Birch was a respected guitar builder etc in the '70s. He made Brian May's first copy guitar. The pickup appears to be a DiMarzio and the decal has been chopped. A picture of the heel of the neck would be good. The neck will have some markings on it. Superficially, it looks to be a 57/58 era Precision.

I see the Gallery advertises both makes. Are they worthy a quick call or email? The only other thing I can say is that the Trickfish site appears to give some guidance about the type of sound for which the cab is suited.

Can anyone else expand why Trickfish are decently made boxes and Barefaced are better designed? Note "because Alex says so" is not an answer I am expecting.

I'm with you. I never listen to voicemails either. I just call the number that rang me back. I run voicemail, hold the phone away from me and delete after the minimum 3 seconds.

I would think they must import into the UK as themselves and then sell within the UK.

There is a ridiculous amount of paperwork to deal with, and Customs are being very pedantic on this point. They are also forking out the charges on your behalf so advancing a total stranger credit. Costs like these seem exorbitant but you would probably pay it willingly if you had to do it yourself. That's not to say some aren't taking advantage.

We used to get a couple of little milk bottles with orange juice in. It was always a real triumph to nab one of those.

I have a mate in a Who tribute band. Not my thing at all but you'd think they were the Who the extent to which he goes on. They are just copying and riding on the fame of the real band. There's money, but no merit in it whatsoever. Not the merit he thinks, anyway. I think there's been a thread before but my favourite tribute band name is By Jovi.

I have to say I thought it was akin to a fly complaining to the hippo when the hippo waggled its ear to dislodge it.

In the mid 80's I had an early Stingray. I didn't really get on with the pick-up placement (being used to the position on a Precision). I sold the Stingray to a chap I knew in order to buy my '66 Precision from a shop in Brighton. It was £260 and had been there ages, this was a time of headless basses. As he handed over the money I explained what I was going to use it for and it turned out he was selling the bass through the shop! To take things a step further, I was playing in a band around Brighton and a friend of the band came along one time. He was an ex bass player and explained that the fact it had SD scratched into certain parts was the fact that it had belonged to him (Steve Davy) and he had bought it new. He played in a band called Steamhammer and had used it extensively in that band - playing with the likes of Freddie King etc. I always love those stories of a small world etc.

That will be interesting. I would presume you've paid UK VAT so I wonder how they'll handle that.
