I use a folding picnic table. 15 quid.

To be fair, this is more pandemic related with factories not producing and (just as important) lots of shipping containers in completely the wrong place. The supply of components outside the EU is unaffected by Brexit itself. The lack of shipping containers has multiplied the cost of them at least seven-fold.

You're a (wait for it) bigger man for it!!

I had pretty much the very same scenario myself when I ordered mine. I have just checked and I initially ordered on 31/7/20 (from Andertons) and took delivery on 29/12/20.
-
I would expect Andertons to honour the price they you have paid. I would certainly be inclined to sit tight and wait. If you take the refund and re-order then there is a chance that the price could rise and you'll be worse off. There's no legal qualification behind that but I would suggest that you have established a contract and you have fulfilled your part of it and are now waiting for Andertons to do their bit.

I suspect that @agedhorse will be along. This is similar to my initial experience. There are differences on the export models (maybe related to voltage) and there was a serious supply issue with some components. That kept delaying my initial order until I was able to resolve it in a different way. In similar fashion (although a completely different product) my new composite front door delivery is being pushed back and back, due to problems with materials. Similarly, the entire global logistics network is chaotic with a shortage of containers (they're in the wrong place). None of which is any compensation. I can only offer that the amp will be worth the wait and your forbearance will be richly rewarded. In the interim, you still have a stonking amp going through some stonking cabs. You're in a way better position than those poor devils making do with their Ampegs, Ashdowns, Barefaceds and the like 😉 Frustrating as hell but hang fire and you will be glad you did. I certainly was.

New band, poor singer. Advice, please...

Right back to Lord Flashheart (although I know to what you refer). -
What speaker set-up did you have in your combo(s)? Were you happy with that? That could be a worthwhile starting point. Similarly, is there any kind of budget limitation?

EEEEK I've got an audition for ACM

Am I the only one who has never played a P Bass.?

I can never look at your contributions without wondering how you got Brian Wilson to sing with you! -
I agree up to a point. Playing a 'name' instrument won't make you technically any better at all but it wouldn't surprise me if someone might get more inspiration. Having a play on Rory Gallagher's Strat, as an example, could bring out something different (that was already there of course). I have owned some ex Entwistle gear and would have been horrified if I'd ended up-laying like him. They were nice instruments and bought for that. As you can tell I'm the total opposite of a fan.

An excellent summary. I had a pair of Compacts for a short while but didn't like the sound and actually felt they were too light for their dimensions - placing a heavy (and deep'ish) amp rack on top seemed a bit precarious. I am not the Barefaced target audience.

A while ago now but it was a Mesa Boogie Bass 400 into a Boogie Diesel 2x15.

Lending your gear to others….U2 did it.

Happens all the time. I recall supporting Joe Louis Walker when his band were using Robert Cray's backline. -

Reminds me of that time me and Kelly Brook ... -
Not a P bass if it has a J neck?

Of course this means your 1968 Telecaster bass is now, in reality, a 1951 Precision. -

Sounds a bit like like some bizarre, irrational bargaining stance. -
Pbass - volume control at willy height (not the end obviously ;-))

The serial number belongs to a US 2009/10 guitar. Pictures would suggest a genuine one would have the smaller headstock and not the larger 70s version. But see page 46 - https://guitar-compare.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Fender-2011-Catalog-Pricelist.pdf

Reminds me of the time I was playing a festival and being broadcast on tv. I approached the amp, plugged in and switched. whereupon it went through some sort of demo-type mode of flickering lights etc and left me wondering how the hell it worked. It was some kind of Peavey and I was just glad to get a noise out of it by the time the drummer counted us in!

Is this enough to prevent smoke, sparks and tears?

You've got a solo? -
Have you lot forgotten Nick Beggs?

Why should every Bass Player worship Status Quo?

I do think there is a valid question in there. You could look at the work Cliff Williams does in AC/DC, Tommy Shannon with SRV and a host of other 'anchors' and wonder if the band would have been so good if they'd been John Entwistle or some other pointless noodler. -
You could but I would think the person wanting to use your cab would be responsible. You'll have the right cables yourself.
