I must be so shallow. I look at a bass and think 'oh, it's just a Jazz' and then it's 'ooh but it's got a matching headstock'.

My trusty 66 Precision. The two pictures are about 35 years apart. I use my SVL's live but this will never go anywhere (until my eldest daughter inherits it).

They were called quarter pounders when originally released. Don't know when the name change happened.

Great question. Roger Taylor (Queen should use me as their bass player anyway 🙂 ) and I've always been a huge fan of Jeff Rich (from his days in Stretch). Some great names already. I think Simon Phillips would be good and Gerry Brown (played with Stevie Wonder). Here's Gerry Brown - if you can tear your eyes away from the backing singers.

Neil Innes. Rutle and Bonzo Dog bandsman.

It's a Fender Japan A/E fretless. It has a Lace Sensor in the usual position and a piezo in the bridge. The controls are (front to back) volume/active tone/pickup blend. Makes a great double bass sound on full piezo. Actually a very versatile bass. They did a fretless and a fretted and, as an HM model, a fretted and fretless with pointy headstocks. Only made for a couple of years I believe.

Personal taste is an interesting thing. I would imagine the build quality to be good but there's not a single element of that that I like. Enjoy your bass and it's great that you're so excited by its imminent arrival.

Thanks Dave. I have to say, I'm very much an 'if it ain't broke' kind of chap. If you are happy with your sound then stick with that. Geography and circumstance combine to make giving my cabs a go impractical but you'd have been more than welcome to try them on a gig.

Here is a review of the WD-800 and Subway 2x15. If you substitute the Bass 400 for the WA and the TT-800 for WD-800 you get my experience. Possibly Duty because the country of origin is outside the EU. Duty free refers to goods that originate from within the EU. VAT is on top of all the charges, not just the price of the guitar.

This makes me wonder. What happened to the relay bass in the end?

Apologies. I looked at the width on the spec and assumed the final positioning of the rack bolts would be off.

The simple fact is that all logistics, in and out of the UK, is in a real mess at the moment. I doubt it'll improve quickly because many firms are deliberately hanging back on moving any goods at the moment. In the same way, tracking systems seem to be horribly behind too. My amps arrived from the US before they were actually due to arrive but the UPS tracking was way out of kilter. Anyone who gets 'good' service at the present time is lucky. There is fault at the root of it all but it is not down to the supplier, carrier or even HMRC, who are overwhelmed and understaffed.

The two amps are slightly different widths also.

Hi I have a Walkabout and TT-800, which uses the same set of rack ears. They don't seem to fit - the screws are in the wrong place.

My friend, who is Pete Townsend's guitar tech recounted how Pino did all the bass parts, on the last Who album, through his old Fender Deluxe.

I think the antidote is to listen to many isolated bass tracks. Many of them are not great on their own.

I aim to go back to the rehearsal space and have another play. I can only really use my phone but maybe that's better than nothing. Maybe I'll end up a wealthy influencer!! 🙂

Interesting phrase. Are you disappointed with it? I found it took me a time to get to grips with the 400 eq when I first got it. Take some time to see how it all works.

Interesting review. You come to the amp from the opposite direction from me so yours is another perspective of a wonderfully versatile amp.

Used to, in fairness. Of course the real point is that you're trying to convince someone else to do it.
