  1. SAHB. one of the best bands of all time. Zal Cleminson, especially, is criminally under-rated. Bizarrely, I attended an end of tour party for Rory Gallagher in 1978 or thereabouts and was doing the hokey cokey with Rory, Gerry MacAvoy and Ted McKenna at some point in the evening. The specifics are rather lost on me (as you might imagine) but it was a great evening. The tour had ended with a gig at the Marquee in Wardour Street.
  2. I get remarkable results with my one of these. Pretty much plug and play. Front mics are at 90 degrees and the rear two are at 120 (I recall) so it covers all sorts of scenarios. Set the limiter to live and you don't even need to adjust anything. Brilliant piece of kit at a bargain price. Record in mp3 or wav too.
  3. I was going to suggest using the monitors as side fills rather than at your feet. Routing the cables round the back is also a very good plan.
  4. Technically yes (and that'll do me).
  5. A US band called It's A Beautiful Day. At the risk of bursting the bubble I'm going to leave it there.
  6. Biggest ever gig for me was playing in a band headlining at the Isle of Wight festival.
  7. Just picked up Spencer's M-pulse 600. Very convivial chap and interesting to chat with. Amp was in excellent condition and clearly well looked after. Highly recommended basschatter.
  8. Ah Whitstable. The Browning family forebears were oyster dredgers there - and a fair few are still around I understand.
  9. Have to say I wanted to gaffa tape his arms to his sides after a while. Rather a demonstrative chap - clearly never a bass player.
  10. Good man. My band is on the Blues In Britain stage (at Jaks Nightclub) at just after midnight on Friday.
  11. I was going back a fair bit here. I think before Joshua Tree.
  12. True enough. It now means I have two if the things but what the hell!
  13. Oh go on then. I know I'll kick myself if I see it sold elsewhere!! Curse my lack of willpower!!! I don't need it but I'm offended by it still being here. PM incoming.
  14. Our favourite bass player (Adam Clayton) used 4 PA cabs as his backline for quite a long time I remember.
  15. Love the way the guy puts everything into this.
  16. Bough a Metro pedal board from Chris. Fast delivery and bullet-proof packing. Great comms and all in all a simple transaction. Deal with confidence. Thanks Chris. Steve
  17. This is true. It's a wonderful thing to be playing in a band of real friends without any egos at all. Only took me about 45 years!!
  18. I have the great joy of playing with a similarly talented chap. He uses a Nord but 'plays' the drawbars in just the manner of the 'real thing'. As a result he gets some amazing sounds and being a brilliant player, the effect is tremendous.
  19. A Hammond at full steam is possibly my favourite noise in the world.
  20. You really should look at the stupidly reasonable M-Pulse 600 for sale here. Obviously heavier than the WD800 but 1/3 the price and a truly wonderful amp.
  21. I used to have one of those back in the late 70s. I think you'll find they're actually lead/bass amps.
