Mesa Boogie/Bass Gallery - I've told this tale before but it's appropriate for this thread. I bought a pair of Subway 15" cabs as soon as they came out. Due to the way production works there, I received the first one in November and the second in the February after. I thought I'd wait until I had the pair before I ran the full rig up and immediately noticed that there was a rattle on the first delivered cab. I checked the tightness of all the screws (it was similar to a rattling grille) but it persisted. It became apparent that the fault lay with the speaker. Gently pushing on the cone gave no indication of an issue there (I was checking to feel if there was any grating from a misalignment). Eventually, it was evident that the speaker was the issue and Mesa agreed to change the speaker. They arranged to send a new speaker over so they could be swapped over. The cab was bought through Bass Gallery and the speaker was due on a Saturday. This was the same day that the guy in the shop was going ion holiday. Entirely for my benefit, he came into the shop and waited, with me, for it to arrive. When it did (already close to the time he needed to leave) we removed the old one, only to find the rattle was caused by a block of 4 staples that had fallen out of the gun (the operator had clearly refilled it during the process of fixing the wadding). On removing the staples, it was apparent all was now fine. We put the cab back together and I went on my way - complete with the spare speaker they had sent over. Given the cost of the cabs I shudder to think how much the speaker was but the level of customer service was off the scale from both Mesa and the Bass Gallery. The chap put his holiday at risk in order to help a customer.

New Mesa Subway head - Further update with added snake oil

No problem. Your input is always very much appreciated. I suspect we have a pretty much identical love of the brand. Things may be taking a spectacular turn but I will keep quiet in case I jinx it. I did let my disappointment get the better of me but my allegiance is as strong as ever. -
My late Dad suffered (although not with deafness) too. He was actually awarded a pay-out. He had been in Lancaster bombers and they referred to the condition as 'Merlin ear'.

Can I draw your attention to the 'don't comment if you haven't read thread'?
-
Yes, would be nice to have a solution. As well as the high p[itched whistle I have a low volume 'dawn chorus' which gets a bit irritating. I tried those Flare Audio things (only 20 quid) but they did nothing for me either way (making it better or worse as opposed to how I stuck them in my ear - before any of you lot make the joke!!).

To be clear, I don't watch these things. I find it almost objectionable that someone would be arrogant enough to think that anyone wants to see how poorly they compare to the great they are mourning. I will make a single exception for Snowy White to tribute Peter Green (he'll be so pleased).

Exactly my feelings and definitely in respect 'dedicating/tributing' by sports people/clubs.
-
The deaths of two guitar playing legends has unleashed an army of guitarists/bands performing 'tributes', their versions of songs made famous by the departed. Why do they think anyone wants to hear a (to use the fairly recently-coined term) Poundshop version of a classic piece of music? It's more of an insult than tribute. Actually, I hate bass players covering Youtube and Facebook with their solo noodling too but that's slightly different, I guess.

I always ask for Bohemian Rhapsody in the studio. Here's an example (someone else put the images to the song) ...;

How to practice silent with bass AND guitar?
Steve Browning replied to Marvin's topic in General Discussion
That should work fine. I used to use one of these exact desks (combining my computer output) to practise. -
Check out the Kent Armstrong Vintage P pickup. I have always used them in basses (replacing the stock MIJ pickups). If you like what you read, I have one that you are welcome to. Drop me a pm with your details and I'll send it to you.

Could be either in my band. I will usually use the bass drum as the basic trigger but we quickly evolve p-arts between us and we know each other well enough to read each other and operate as a team 'on the fly' as it were.

Mesa also have a social media presence and a post explaining the delays would have managed expectations. -

Interesting and thanks for passing that on. I guess my (harsh) response that they shouldn't then offer goods for sale (and take the money). Similarly, I was told my amp was being built on 4th August so there has been plenty of time to let me (and others) know the score. -

This is true. Over the years I know of several people who have bought Boogie gear because of the sound of my rig. A good chum is a Boogie endorsee so I am pursuing other avenues. -

Yes, although it's galling because he said that my amp was being built on 4th August on this forum. I think (in hindsight) I'd not have known. It gives the impression it's just sitting around somewhere. -
Mesa amps price cuts. No more middle man
Steve Browning replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
Built on 4/8 and due for delivery on 25/11. Kudos to the chap who is, seemingly, walking it to the coast and then swimming across the Atlantic, to deliver it!! 😞 I had 3 gigs later this year and it won't be here for any of them. -

Seems like it won't be until almost the end of November!! M original order stated that it would be received by the supplier on 30/9. Today, the day before, the order is updated to 25/11. Considering I was informed my amp was being built a good few weeks ago (on this very forum) it seems a real pity that the date is updated so very late, and by almost 9 weeks. My first Mesa based disappointment in 32 years. Guess I had a good run. -
I do similar but incorporate the set up into my PC. I put the bass, PC output and a line in through a small mixer and the main output goes to an amp and speakers. I can play along to any source either with volume or headphones. I have recently got a small USB powered mixer so the PC output is digital and no need for an extra plug. Maybe a bit much but very versatile and I can obviously control the volume/sources from one place.

Mesa Boogie Diesel 2x15. Handled the full range of the bass with equal aplomb and had both depth and definition.

Fingers crossed for a better outcome. Good luck.
