  1. These still kicking around? Reckon they'll fit an Epiphone Jack Casady? Or rather how many winds round the post? Cheers
  2. Might be worth mentioning... also one of few 'regular' gig bags that will accommodate a wide based hollowbody such as the Epiphone Jack Casady and the like...
  3. That's really kind of you, thank you. What I've attempted (a fix that has worked for many things previously) is to make a paste from wood glue and pencil shavings. Put some in and tried hammering back in but it wont sit right and doesn't seem to want to go all the way in. That or the hole is getting bigger which is making me scared of giving it any welly with an actual hammer over a pedal beater... eesh.
  4. Kudos for the auto filter changing to 'gypsy's kissed'. Btw he was on FB, not here.
  5. Oooh, I'm not a happy bunny. After reacquiring a JC bass (foolishly sold the last because of an old band), it appears I've been sold a dud. Some numbnuts with no clue about how to set up a 3 point had the back 2 posts higher than the front and it's pulled the back posts out, mainly G side. I've tried to hammer them back in with a hard felt kick pedal beater but they won't stay and I'm pretty gypsy's kissed. They've clearly messed with it as the screw slots are shredded too. Any suggestions on a good fix that won't screw it up or make it worse? I did wonder why the dude had put a bunch of nuts on the ball ends with no real reason or rhyme. Seems it was an attempt to counteract the pull as opposed to lengthening to increase tension. AAAAARRRGGGGGHHH!!!
  6. You got any pics of it? I'm interested... Just realised it's fretboard only! =D I retract my previous statement.
  7. When not taking 2 guitars, I use the front compartment of mine to put pedals and leads and stuff, amp head or bass synth etc. It's pretty bloody useful.
  8. Hi Chris, that last pair of p bass covers still kicking around? Defs fits a Fender P? (My '74 is drilled for them, don't want to have to drill more!) Cheers 😃 Andrew
  9. This is mine with the Gotoh and a bit of a refinish (ie. A going over with some sand paper to mattify it after it suffered a ding)
  10. Ah right, I forgot about the wood assembly and treatment. It still seems quite a jump up in price for what essentially doesn't make a discernible difference to the regular ear. I mean, yeah I'd bloody love a 10 or 2025, obvs but a few mods to the 425 get me close enough. I'm not sure I really 'believe' in 'tonewoods' anyway =P I'm sure the construction makes a difference to tone and sustain but for someone who often palm mutes or whacks a sponge under the strings (such as myself) I think the 425 will do. Although the B never quuiiiiite intonates correctly (12th fret reads about a quarter tone sharp) and that's a bit of a gypsy's kisser (especially as it now sports a Gotoh bridge), it does the job and does it mighty well. Anyone else modded their BB in any way?
  11. String tree is nominal, bridge already replaced, pups it be interested in trying others but seem to be fine now that I've A/Bd them with the Fenders. I could lacquer the neck myself if it bothered me I guess but I usually take a bit of fine sandpaper to my necks anyway. As before, 425 is a monster. Beyond pleased with it.
  12. Ad this week is too late for me! =D Lets have a pic anyway?
  13. Haven't seen one for sale... been looking for a higher end one but just bought another bass yesterday.
  14. I thought they did when I posted because of a session last week. I wasn't getting quite what I wanted out of it, or so I thought. I think now that perhaps it was my amp setup in the room. Tried it again with a different head at home and I prefer it to the sound of my USA Fender! Any idea what the real difference is between the 1024 and 424 other than pups? I'm struggling to see what the difference could really be. Opened mine up today and was surprised to see Alpha pots, was expecting generic cheapo stuff.
  15. Hi all. I love my BB425X. It's surprisingly playable for what it cost me. Probably as much if not more so than the Sandberg I had! Thing is, I think the pups could do with an upgrade. From what I know, there's little difference between the 425 and the 1000 series; hardware and electronics, right? Still both made in Indonesia and same woods and all that if I'm not mistaken. Already replaced the bridge with a Gotoh (some difference although the B still won't intonate perfectly at the end of its reach but still usable) and I want a bit more roundness and clarity from the pups. I hear people say they're hard to replace on account of the odd shape but surely it's just a case of obscuring the joins if any, no? Any more concrete knowledge/suggestions/advice on replacements/pitfalls is welcomed and appreciated. Cheers, Andrew
  16. FYI it's 3.8kg/8.4lbs or thereabouts
  17. Man, I have the 425X and am amazed how nice it is for what it cost, can only imagine how this one compares. Another bump for this winner.
  18. can supply with one of these guys if needed No I can't anymore, went with my fretless.
