  1. I see what you mean about him being a Rush fan
  2. I'm still grinding through how to play the chorus of Peg in time, until I get to the sunny uplands of Josie
  3. You'll need one of those cameras they used to take school photos with soon....then you can take the bass on the left and put it on the right and see if anyone notices
  4. Dusty in Memphis is one of my favourite albums of all time
  5. This guy seems to be the biggest Steely Dan Bass fan in the world, and I've found watching his vids helpful
  6. And are we allowed to see the rest? Pleeeeese!
  7. My goodness, that is a thing of beauty ELP tribute band?
  8. Surely the Guitarist's mum doing relaxation exercises with the whole of Madison Sq Gardens at c 22 minutes is inspired/unique. Did Bruce Springsteen ever think of this? Just watch the audience. It is proper entertainment (and I confess to liking Joe Dart's playing too)
  9. Can you still part with your Wal? Perhaps I can PM you (if I can remember how :))
  10. That was a Fylde #998 And this is a (non electric) Earthwood
  11. Your wish is my command. There are many fascinating and obscure parts of his collection. I think that's partly what makes it so interesting (and then there are the Alembics of course :))
  12. I got myself an ex-library copy of 'Bass Culture', the picture book of John Entwhistle's bass collection (which I enjoy a lot more than Geddie's book). I did find myself puzzling over what's going on here: Can anyone enlighten me?
  13. It works until you get tempted to buy a different coloured one. However, my wife and I have come to an accomodation....if she spots I've bought another bass, she gets to buy a handbag (with my money).
  14. Has anyone got any top tips on how to nail down the timing of the chorus to Peg by Steely Dan (and the lead in to the chorus for that matter)? It should be page 438 of 'The Complete Electric Bass Player'
  15. This is a brilliant sequence drawing on a fantastic array of influences https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2020/04/03/thundercat-breaks-down-his-favorite-bass-lines/
  16. I agree with he last comment. I am the happy owner of two stack knob basses....both relatively new. From what's been said I would imagine my CS bass is wired to sound like a newer jazz. The Lackland Joe Osborn also behaves the same in terms of pick up controls, but has a louder, more modern output.
  17. I read somewhere that Jaco's bass was a stacknob and he replaced it with the 2 vol& tone later set up because he thought the latter was louder. Any thoughts?
  18. I thought Lemmy played 8 x10's (two of them)
  19. Like East German Power Lifting practice ? Or the next series of roadies who really want to be in the SAS?
  20. The frets are a bit kn.....ckered😬 So what is the low down on Norm playing on London Calling?
  21. Lyle Mays was my introduction to Jaco (literally) https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=joni+mitchell+shadows+and+light
