OMD, via Alexa... and being reminded why I went off them big style after about 1984...

The Cult's debut (as The Cult at least lol) "Dreamtime" is my favourite record of all time... have heard it slated by many people including later band members but nothing they've done since comes close for me

One of the few vinyl records I still own despite having nothing to play them on.One consequence of having played them a couple of times is the realisation the turntable on my 20+ year old Littlewoods catalogue stereo has probably carked it 😞 ... looking at replacements lol

Recently I have been making a list of my favourite (and formative) albums in chronological order, I am surprised that so many of them fall between 1978-81. One of the very best imho is Dirk Wears White Sox, to my ears it still sounds as fresh as a daisy.
Have recently acquired two different original vinyl versions of it from a mate (at some cost lol) rather excellent!

Joy Division "Closer" or Fields Of The Nephilim "The Nephilim" both have pretty great first sides (for those who remember two sides on the same disc/tape 🙂 ) but second sides that are just on a different planet

Right at this minute a covers band in a pub in Boldmere, not too bad... singer has a remarkable resemblance to Jenna from Blakes 7...!

If I couldn't have Hooky's spot maybe Barry Adamson with Magazine and the Bad Seeds

Talking of smoke machines, doing sound at a jazz/dub/freeform type thing, me and another guy were very hands-on on the desk (dub echo, mixing etc) and i turned the smoke machine on.
10 minutes later i looked up to see the whole club completely obliterated in smoke, just silhouettes of the band, the lights and this great dub music coming out.
It was awesome!
We didn't have fire alarms so everyone just carried on, but me and the other guy on the desk were pissing ourselves laughing.
Having seen Fields Of The Nephilim several times in their heyday it wasn't dissimilar 🙂

Every Guns 'n Roses song would benefit from losing the last three minutes or so

The line "see the blood flow, watching it shed, up above my head" in Maiden's theme tune always sounded to me like DiAnno was singing "see the butler washing dishes..."

Don't know if he still does things like that but Gary Numan turned the odd one out in the early days, I particularly liked this:
Asylum - YouTube
oh well don't seem able to get the link to work... nice spooky tune anyway

Took me 33 years to discover Quo's "In The Army Now" wasn't actually theirs

The first video the OP put up is a good place to start. Actually I love the whole of the first album (Turn on the Bright Lights). I also quite like the track Public Pervert from the Antics album for melodic playing, particularly in the verses.
Turn On The Bright Lights is probably my favourite record of the 21st century

"Salvation Belongs To Our God" often became "Alsatians Belong..." at our church

I hit the first note in the first number, and. . . . nothing!!
Everything was on, the bass was plugged in. . . . panic!!
With the band well into the first verse, I looked around the back. . . . I hadn't connected the cabs!!
Lol as a former soundman for our church band this wasn't unknown on a Sunday morning 😅

Very sad...Quo were the first band I really got into, first band I ever saw live, still got more of their stuff than any other band RIP Nuff

Always loved the story about an inebriated Mick Jagger phoning his room in the middle of the night and Charlie getting up, washed and suited up and going to give Jagger a smack in the gob ... RIP Charlie

Being not as familiar with all Zeppelin's catalogue as I perhaps ought to be I have genuinely mistaken Greta van Fleet for them on the radio before now

Doubly so given her well documented performance anxiety issues. That can’t have helped!
Must say that on the various occasions I saw AAE (both original and acoustic lineups) if Julianne was feeling nervous it didn't show, wonderful voice and great performer. Felt very happy when she replied to a comment of mine on FB recently 🙂

Added the local Wetherspoon as I'm more likely in there than at home lol (and it is quite close!)
