Hi My first post here. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice to give with regards to fitting a new bridge to an old bass which has a different footprint. This question is aimed at brave modification types, luthier types or some anyone else with experience. I have an old Maverick bass that I mainly use for practice but the bridge is a bit heath Robinson & therefore can be a bit of a pig to set up. I have already bought the replacement bridge that has the same string to sting measurement. Nothing of the fittings/screw holes line up & was wondering if anyone has any thoughts before I start. This is a bit of an experiment but all the same I'd like not to miss anything out that I hadn't thought of. Many thanks for your time Jason

On the 13th of Sept I ordered 2 sets on cheapest/slowest delivery - arrived today (19th) !! They seem very legit !!

I've had an Orange 4 Stroke (500) for a few months - I have to say it's awesome !! It took a couple or 3 gigs to settle on an eq. For me it's a brilliant amp !! I've had a DGM900 & still have Ashdown ABM500 evo3 & I'd say it's somewhere in between the both of them 2 sonically. I use it to drive a Barefaced Big Twin 2. The 500 one I have is really loud & most of the time I use the in built switch that reduces the o/p by an amount (I can't remember the figure off the top of my head but maybe 3dB ??). The compression I don't use much because I have a Compressor pedal (Omni FX Smoothie). It's a little heavy due to it being Class A/B but that isn't a problem for me. I'd say try one out first & do so with your own cab. Jass

I too have set up using radius gauges - in general I use the Fender height settings for the E & G strings, then use the gauge for the D & A. To me it makes a great deal of difference

I have the 4 Stroke 500 & I think it's awesome !! The parametric eq is so useable I hardly use the compression knob because I have an OMNIFX Smoothie pedal which is also awesome. The amp is that loud that I have the -6dB pad all the time. The output has proper clout & all my bandmates seem to love it also However I haven't used the OB1.

I like anything by JPJ/Wattroy As a different one how about Moondance by Van Morrison (the studio one)

I use both to a degree but more so the pick. I position the bass somewhere in between if I understand your description. I can touch my belt when I place my hand directly under the lower contour of my Jazz bass - see my profile pic

Stevie, Which model & generation of Barefaced cab did you somehow purloin ? Was the same cab used for both speakers that were tested ? (Both happened to be 33cm/1.5 metres high etc.) If they remained in their own cabs, what was the crossover position ? Have you thought about doing this with other cabs/speakers in regards to balance/fairness ? Do you ever make/take similar readings with regards to amplifiers? That one was mine ! I part ex'd it for an Orange 4 stroke which for me is awesome. In general the sound just didn't work for me which was gutting because I was so looking forward to using it. I believe my problem was combinational between Cab, Amp & style of playing. I can't fault the M900 for quality - so much power ! It's just the sound wasn't my cup of tea. Therefore I suggest that if one is going to try it out, bring your cab !! Have a good day

Hi My Band mates have said the addition of a BT2 to my set up was a game changer for me !! It has never let me down. In my opinion there are no realistic off axis performance issues, if indeed there are any for anyone else that have listened to either of the bands I play in. I generally set the tweeter to approx. half way. Also I have also used it (with the tweeter set to fully on) to play iPod/iPhone music for my Daughters party (17h Birthday) & I thought it sounded excellent (as did he neighbours !). It's worth a try if you can try one out easily - have a look on the Barefaced website for a map of users Jason
