  1. I think it's next to impossible to achieve under 8.5 lbs with the wood combination, which is similar to a Ken Smith. The average Black Tiger 5 string weighs well over 9 lbs I believe. Hope you find a solution on the weight Jeff as Mark is a really nice person, hard to find these days! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
  2. So I was on the phone with Chris this afternoon about building an Overwater Classic J 5 with a pair of Turner Multicoils and Lusithand 'Double NFP-Special MKII'. Funny enough, he told me he was talking to Paul of Wal last week. Apparently, Wal will not sell its pickups or electronics to a 3rd party anymore. My guess is, Wal is up to their neck with orders and can't be bothered with other things!
  3. Wow....lost for words!
  4. Lovely grain on the wood, both top and back! ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Just as I thought. Surprised that they are not made in China as Gibson has a factory there, and most of the Epiphones are made in China, and the quality is surprisingly good!
  6. Are you sure you wanted to move back to the UK? ๐Ÿ˜…
  7. Wow, would love to see them when they are finished. I can imagine they are going to be spectacular!
  8. Not anymore, I am afraid. Martin said they mainly do repair, custom and modification now. Of course, they still build if someone wants one. Also, the commission sales are quite profitable, I can imagine.
  9. Wow, what a beautiful bass? Is this a recent build? The last time I talked to Martin he told me they hardly built any more basses these day!
  10. Wow, did you make the body and neck yourself? ๐Ÿค”
  11. Any update on your built Ron? ๐Ÿค”
  12. What's the string spacing @ bridge please?
  13. Thanks. Always love a natural body.! ๐Ÿ˜… In time they will turn into a beautiful golden yellow colour.
  14. Yup, it's definitely very distinguishable for sure. ๐Ÿ‘

  16. Great collection. Overwater don't make these shapes anymore, right? Any idea what years were these made?
  17. 36" ๐Ÿ˜ฎ, you must have loooonng arms! ๐Ÿ˜…
  18. I know what you mean by the weight Chris. When I received the fretless, I found it a bit on the heavy side too so when I ordered the fretted one, I asked if they could find me a lighter swamp ash body and they did. It was comparatively lighter than the fretted brother. I don't know about the CS Fender Jazz 5 as there are so few of them. The 4 strings are very light indeed. Then again, I used to have two 78 Fender jazzes and they weighed a ton! ๐Ÿ˜•
  19. Any Overwater bass owners here? I have two Overwater bassess, both fretted and fretless. Been using it for gigs over the last two years and am very happy with them. I think Overwater is like the Fender Custom Shop basses in terms of build and quality. When I placed my order with Chris, initially I went for the hollow body series but later on I realized(or I think Chris told me) only both wings are hollowed. There is a centre solid block of wood in between. Well, that wasn't what I wanted as I was looking for a totally hollow body one in which 2 years later, I ordered a Stradi but that a story for another time! Anyway, so I changed to the J series instead. Don't think Chris was too impressed with the switch, sorry Chris! The first one was a fretless and I like it so much that I ordered a fretted one afterward! ๐Ÿ˜
  20. Nice one Jeff ๐Ÿ‘, please keep us updated with the build. ๐Ÿ˜
  21. It's not too late for you to start Russ! ๐Ÿค“
