Hi All, glad to update you guys that Laurence is back taking in works now. I dropped off my bass this morning at his shop and had a chat with Laurence. Really nice fellow.

I hope he's fine too. He did a great setup on mine a while ago. Probably took in more works then he could managed. I will try again next month update you guys.

I went over to his shop earlier this afternoon. The front door shuttle was half opened and there were loads of boxes piling up at the front. The shop appeared to be emptied as no one comes out after me knocking! Don't look like he'll be able to take in any works in for another month or two.

Hi All, any suggestion please? I know Laurence Dixon is the nearest one but he is not taking in any works at the moment. So I need to find another one! Thanks.

They are more or less all the same now. Don't you just miss that honest culture we used to have?! ☹️

Hmm.....terrible ppl preying on us sweet loving bassists. I could probably guess the name of the shop as there aren't that many around. The owner is a well known bell end and very rude at the shop especially if you are not buying. Glad that you, finally, get your money.

I did actually go to the workshop but he has one of those CCTV doorbell which can answer calls remotely. He told me he wasn't in the workshop and asked me to return next week! I am sure he was inside but I ain't going to sit outside all day as it's just going to get me more annoyed. But thanks to you guys, it all worked out now. 😊

I checked and he still have an online shop running, not selling but teaching now! 🙄

Latest update guys. I finally received the money today 3 weeks after sending him a "letter before action" giving him 2 weeks to pay. Then on the last day of the 2 weeks, he emailed me saying how disappointed he was that I went this route. I know, pathetic huh? He still saying that the online banking dongle hasn't arrived. Then he asked me to give him another week and if the dongle still not arrived by the end of the week, which is today, he would go to the bank. Hmm...shouldn't he do this many weeks ago? Again, thank you all for the advice. 😁

Thanks for the input but in my case, it's gone past all those period. First he called me and asked if I still have the signed agreement, asked me to send him a copy via email. Then it all gone quiet for a week, I called him and he said he hasn't got my bank detail so I emailed the bank info to him. Two weeks later, I called again and he said he had forgotten the whole things due to, loads of excuses. He then said he would sort it out soon. Another two weeks gone by, no money in my bank. I called him and this time he said the online banking dongle is not working and he is waiting for another one posted by the bank. That was almost two weeks ago. So there, I did think of hiring a debt collector but members here advice "small claims court" so I am in the process of doing so now. The shop in question is, Bexley Brass in Bexley. The owner is Philippe L'olive. Spread out the words to all your brass band mates.

Thank you all for the suggestion. I don't really want to get nasty with the guy but on the other hand, I don't like being treated like an idiot. So perhaps sending him a formal final notice letter by registered post and see if this works. Have a great Sunday all.

Hi All, Has any one had any bad experience on "commission sale" in which the instrument was sold but the shop kept postponing payment to you? I sold a high end trumpet, on commission, with a shop but now the guy keeps finding excuses in making the bank transfer payment to me. Any suggestions folks?
