mikhay77 replied to mikhay77's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the replies guys, one of my friends has now learnt 60% and I will probably play guitar for the others, like someone commented most people wont even notice, especially after they have had a load o stella. Still might see if I can set up something though,if only to see if I can get summat to work! -
Wasn't the Unibass an Octaver with a distortion option thrown in for good measure or am I thinking of something else?
Mmm,puttin my feelers out for some pedals from my mates,I do play a lot of chords on the bass and the overplayin is always welcome but I am the singer too! ha ha. Mmm maybe a geddy bass pedal set up. I think its gonna be a octaver and harmonizer set up split between amps, maybe a distortion and synth pedal too, I think I do have a spare kitchen sink.Just been listening on you tube and there are some not too shabby results! And the best ones seem to be a bass octaver/ distortion pedal -
+1 That's a cracking idea, should be much easier that way.
Yeh,its just gettin the commitment, but I think a my friends can manage some, just a contingency plan. Not the usual pub covers unfortunately,Havent got our sets recorded so its difficult to get a dep,it would need rehearsals and every player and his dog that I know is out new years, bummer! Would of thought by now someone would of made a pedal to put bass root notes to guitar chords, mind you, probably a good job otherwise we might be out of a job, lol. -
Got a gig new years eve, only at the local pub,Heres the problem, our guitarist is unable to do it for personall reasons.Short notice for anyone to learn 30 or so songs. Got a couple of friends who can busk through some but here is the thing. I can play bass or the guitar for all the songs but not at the same time lol. Is there any pedal out there that could simulate bass or guitar ie I could split the signal some way from either the bass or guitar to both stacks thus emulating the bass or vice versa. I did think about playing the guitar and splittin it to the bass stack and taking out all the top and bumping the low frequencies to fill out the sound. Havent got the equipment or time to record backing tracks either, any sugestions welcome. It doesnt have to be a studio quality sound and its more a bit of fun but it would be cool to add something.Mind you the White stripes manage it!

mikhay77 replied to mikhay77's topic in Gear Gallery
Here is my beast. MK2 V4 with the overdrive and compressor. lovely stuff, aint heard a better sounding toob amp what so ever PS....V type 4808 combo and 15" 1153 for sale over in the sale section..
Big +1. Dirty channel 2 with the valve comp kicked in is absolutely fantastic. My only criticism would be it just loses a bit of bass when driving the 2nd channel, but thats about it,it does have a better tone than the V6 too.Would love to hear a V8 in anger! I have got a load of valves ranging from GE 6550s to vintage Gec kt88s and some Re issue Gold lions plus 2 sets of JJs( Bullet proof for giggin ).Will have to try em all seen as the biasing is a piece o piss! -
Loved that V4 of yours Mik. Tone monster!
Hey Dude,Hows you? Hows my old Marshall gettin on? Still prefer it to the Ampeg? Jesus that thing was LOUD. -
Never realized how rare the V4s and V8s were till I tried to find one. There are slightly more early V4s and V6s . So I thought,Mmm lets see how many we could catalogue. Could record serial numbers too. Protect your assets! Trying to work out my build/ serial numbers. A headache ! Anyway here are my 2.

Created a new Trace Elliot compact monster rig
mikhay77 replied to longtimefred's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had finally had enough of lugging my old Ampeg 410HLF and the Trace V4 in its flight case to every gig and rehearsal as it was just BIG and some times not needed at all. I borrowed a V-Type 4x8 combo off a friend for a rehearsal as i needed to travel to Preston from Stoke on Trent and i didnt want to lug all the big stuff all the way up there. These things are pretty tiny and i didnt really know what to expect. Fired it up along with the Sansamp and the thing was rockin!! Proper great sound and that triggered me posting a thread about maybe moving away from the big stuff. Fast forward a few months and i have managed to prize the 4808 off my friend for some cash and i have just purchased a 1153 15" off here which shall be arriving on Tuesday. So now i have a multi purpose mini rig that packs a punch. I have modded the combo by chopping off the jack plug that runs off the speaker lead into the amp and fitting an inline jack socket so it can be used as a cab as well as the combo. I can now use the combo / with 1153 or any of the boxes along with the V4 for when i want to use that. 5 rigs in 1!! well happy. Shall post some pics up when i have it all together on Wednesday. Getting quite excited by it all now and it all fits in the boot of my car. Brilliant.
Not bad the 4x8s. I had one,( Just the cab version ) Run it with a 1048h and a ah500 12,Really punchy,Not quite man enough on its own though, tried it with my V6 and it broke up nicely, pity I sold it b4 I got my Mk2 V4,Respect to a fellow trace lover. -
Mmmmmm...... Fender Limited Edition La Cabronita “Porrazo” Precision Bass®
mikhay77 replied to TRBboy's topic in Bass Guitars
Don't get me wrong, I love Fenders, but seriously, how do Fender justify their prices? How can that be worth nearly three grand? I'm lost for words... Can someone clarify this for me please? A precision bass is generally two body shapes (contoured / slab). A jazz bass is one body shape. Their bodies are mass produced, no? Or do they hand carve the custom shop jobbies? How much work actually goes into these custom shop basses? I have visions of a bunch of yanks bolting together off the shelf parts, handing them to the relicing guys and then patting each other on the back and saying to each other "that's a beautiful piece of craftsmanship there, man." Makes me angry. When you consider what you can get from British luthiers for half the price.... There's no way that is worth £2799..no effing way...
Ha ha.=+1. I had to double take on the price. Its worth £279.99! How? How? -
Paid my credit card off today, owed 450 quid but give em it in TC pounds so only paid 230 quid so got it much cheaper!
