3. Thats superb,+1 to the handbuilt jazz club too.Much better than your off the shelf stuff .I did the same, got exactly what I wanted.Pealroid Block lefty upside down neck,Bart pre amp,Vintage EMG's and 3d Bridge, all for about 300 quid. Its the future!
 4. Rare Warwick Streamette! Have found a V4 head so a cash price now unless someone has a Trace 1048h 800 watt new style or Ibanez Musician. Beautiful curved body ala, thumb and Streamer, mirrored active EMG P's and active MEC circuit,it looks like new,one very tiny ding to the rear of the body near the neck,no buckle rash it really is mint.If you check on the Warwick site you will see how rare these are ( approx 70 units ) price drop down to £695 delvered with hardcase.
 5. We have been using a Mackie rig for 3 years now,2x 1801 subs and 2 450 tops and a mackie desk.Got a good deal for the lot,we usually put everything through it,full drum set up,2 guitars, bass and 3 voacals and it handles it all.Indistructable bins and great sounding tops, even used em at about 15 open air jobbies to a few hundred people.Always had great feedback about the sound, nice and load with great punchy botteom end, using a few compressors and great clarity with vocals too, mind you it helps when you have a sound engineer too, lol.Played through a lot of pa's and pound for pound its pretty hard to beat for size, weight and cash
 6. Keep forgetting to put up me Wick.lol.A very rare Warwick Streamette in mint condition!Mirrored active Ps,curved body ala thumb,Birds eye maple plus numerous other woods tboot, really nice player and kickin sound,
 7.
Main considerations on this are budget, and type of band. If its a rock band, with two guitars, I`d be dubious about only using a 2x10. There are some fairly light cabs about at the moment, but this of course depends on funds available. Mention that, and the recommendations will come flooding in, no doubt.
+1.I tried the small compact route.Play in a rock band,2 guitars, usual valve heads and 4x12s.Used mainly 4x10s etc.Bought a MB 121p.I had my reservations after a fairly loud rehearsal.Come to the first gig!Well a good job the tranny was still loaded with my old gear.If your rockin out maybe a couple of 2x10 8ohm cabs or 1x15 and 2x10 coupled with a trusty bullet proof trace head. Punchy and loud. .
 8. Perry is a spot on bloke,he offered to drive from Cheshire to Lincoln to deliver my amp the next day.The amp is absolutely spot on.Same tastes in music too,ha ha.Saw him at NOFX! lol. Anyways,do not hesitate to buy off Perry,a top notch Dude!Cheers mate.

 10.
Got my fingers crossed for ya.
Tried but no luck,Mec distorts too,but its deffo a phase issue, panned centre and its a loud full sound allbeit distorted due to mec rewire,so on the look out for an active mec or emg,lol
 11.
Ah well if they make a circuit for it then that's your get out of jail option, short of (as you say) matching pups. You could hard wire it (switched on) and hide it in your control cavity so you never have to bother with it again.
True, will try the mec rewire now me thinks, and will see what happens
 12.
Yeah it's worth a pop... although it might be more of the same. Are the MECs sealed units like the EMGs?
Yeah, unfortunately they are, infact they look clones! Read on the Emg forum, they talk of a phase reversal circuit! Will try the mec wiring swap,if not,may be a case of matched pups.Mec replacement is 180 euros.Ouch! So will be another Emg maybe.
 13.
Try switching the screen and white.
Thanks for the quick replies.Sorry didnt mention it,tried that first on the emg and panned to rear emg and it was really distorted, could try it on the Mec,same type wiring. What you reckon?
 14.
Nope I'm still none the wiser. If you are wanting to the reverse the phase you either need to switch your wires coming off the pup or (not really heard of someone going to these lengths but in theory it will work) switch the magnets around - north to south / south to north. Simply turning the pups around doesn't change the phase in this context.
Ah stupid me,yeh see what you mean, trouble is what would be the way to reverse the wiring, red 9v,screen and white centre core for out put?
 15.
When you say "spun the pick up round" what did you actually do?
Turned both rears 180 degrees if that makes sense?,so much easier with single pups lol
 16. I have a Warwick Streamette with dual p pickups and a standard Mec active circuit.Rear pick up went dead on me,so replaced it with an active Emg.Sounds great panned to rear or front mec pickup but pan centre and get a really thin and weedy sound.Had this before and it was out off phase pickups so spun the pick up round and still the same! Cant alter the wiring due to 9v feed, ground and output, exactly the same as the Mec.Anyone any Ideas.?
 17.
I know nothing about it but would recommend a chat with these guys who are a Trace Elliot recommended service centre. They have my MkV AH250 at the moment and would appear to know exactly what they are doing.
Thats great thanks,I also have a Mk4 ah250 that needs a repair too, just a very low distorted output,so will email them tomorrow about both, cheers,Mike
 18.
Trace originally produced the V6 with 6550s but changed to KT88s later on for reliability reasons. If your V6 had 6550s in it when you got it then maybe it was never designed to use KT88s and this is where your troubles are coming from?
Mmm,didnt know that, thought they all run Kt88s,wouldnt the repairer know what was compatable? How would I be able to find out?
 19. So I got a Trace V6,in good nick,I know a bit about amps and I had a look at the internals, all looks pretty good,no burnt boards or melted or messed about wiring,a nice clean example, but it had ge 6550s fitted and should have Kt88s.It performed OK but I had only practised with it twice and sounded to have little more distortion when pushed than should have.So had it serviced and revalved recently in Nottingham,4 new JJ pre amp valves,6 matched gold lions. They said 2 pre valves where nackered, and they give it a clean bill.Got it back and was really looking forward. Now heres the problem, start to give it some juice,5 on the gain and approx 3 on the volume,(any more and it cant handle it)and it really started to crack the speakers, very harsh.Sounded like the cones where blowin out! Took it back and was told it had taken out 2 88s due to bad connection (where?),I thought hold on these are new.Two more fitted and rebiased again, still the same. They now say its been modded and a pre amp valve wasnt working or bi passed? ( Hold on wasnt this checked)! So they sorted that.Went to pick up today and still the same! So a month later and an esculating bill of hundreds they now think it could be an output transformer! Frick. I just want it right. Starting to loose faith if you know what I mean.So sorry for the essay, but is there anyone here in Basschat Land that knows about these amps and can repair em. Or anyone can recommend some one.Any help Guys!
 20. Oh yeh, forgot to mention I have one of these, hence why on items wanted I am after a MEC P pick up and a machine head, lol
 21. Just found this link to clear up any confusion from Hans himself Dear Mr. Nicholas S, thanks for your mail and sorry for the late answer but I just arrived on a business travel in China and didn`t received your mail. - Corvette Bolt on well, this is a special story because this model wasn`t officially a special edition as we would call it by today. The row Body´s are coming from a special production we never launched official in the market and during a visit from our former US Distributor Dana B Good he found the body`s sitting on our stock and fell in love to it. So in a certain case it was once of our first special edition but with a custom Shop Corvette Body which was in a convex styling like the Streamer Bass. The Name was maybe given from our US Distributor, but wasn`t officially called like that from our side. In total we produced from this Instrument around 70 or 80 pcs. at all and only for the US market. The specs are as following : Bass Corvette Special 91 Edition with a convex curved Body Design Serial Number C 082722 01 Year 2001 Month March Number 082722 Neck Wood Ovangkol Wood Fingerboard Ebony Fingerboard Frets Bronce Warwick Frets Nut Just a Nut II Neck construction Bolt On Body Top 2 pcs. Bird Eyed Maple with a Strip of Bubinga in the middle position Backside, 3 pcs. Bubinga solid Surface Oil Finish Pickups MEC PP Active Pickups Electronic 2 Band Active MEC Electronic Hardware Warwick Gold Hardware So, this is the story behind the Bass, it is existing only in the USA and a very rare model and we are very glad that you such in love with your instrument. 22.
I'm a big fan of active EMG pickups and electronics. I've been using them for years, including P style soapbars. My current basses have DC soapbars in. If I were to upgrade either of my P basses, I'd certainly not hesitate in saying that they can do a modern slap sound with said pickups on board. EMGs have a nice sparkly top end and can do a real fat bottom end. Mine aren't the X version - though I'd like to give them a try to see what the difference is.
+1 I have 3 basses with Emgs, ones an SB700 with a 45dc and a 45p.If you like that top end sparkle at good tight lows, for the money you can't go wrong, would say the P's would have some good slappable sound,if you can hook one up with a BTC controller too,you will be laughin!
 23.
I swapped out some 6550s (EH) for KT88s (JJ) and never looked back. I won't go into all the cliches describing the sound, but suffice to say I love the KT88 tone. The KT88s have a bit more headroom too, which is something I welcomed on my 100w amp, as I could squeeze a bit more volume out of it. Not tried the shuguang ones - maybe I'll give them a go when the JJs die - thanks for the tip Umph
Taking the amp to Hotrox, see your from Notts, let them give it a service, set of valves and a Re bias,so hopefully be singing like good un when I pick it up,sorry, when the fork lift picks it up lol. Will post on how it sounds and choice of valves.
 24. Will get some pics asap, need to unload the Tranny anyway, cheers
 25.
sell the GE's and get some shuguang geckt88's i'll eat my hat if you don't like them and the extra cash you'll have!
Yeh,bar a set of vintage GEC Kt's I have heard they are the daddies, will start trawling to get a good price on a matched sextet!
