1. Price drop bump!
 2. Always wanted one,now got one after playin hybrid amps for years. The sound is fantastic.ie,you plug in and with everything set flat it sounds great.Amps I have had b4 mostly trace 12 band tranny/pre valve heads,SWR sm400 etc.Which do sound great but this, well cant put my finger on it,sort of bigger, warmer but still nice highs and clarity too.Its a sound that my hybrid amps just cant get.Well to my ears anyway. Anyways to my point. I have fitted a set of 60s mullard ecc83s,purely because I aquired some in a amp deal, replacing the original trace pre valves.Prior to me buying the amp it was fitted with a matched set of GE6550a's. Now google these and they have a ridiculous price tag! But do I replace these with a matched set of kt88s,which is what the amp was designed to take, will it make that much difference, sound? volume? clarity? reliability? Any trace owner/user been through this or actually any amp user? Also nothing much wrong overall but was gonna get a service on it,a good once over and rebias etc, anyone on Basschat can recommend an amp specialist in the Lincolnshire area ? Any input appreciated, thanks.

 7.
I've been mistakenly calling my AH250 a "MK IV". It doesn't say MK IV on it, and I'd never heard of one before. I made it up! But there doesn't seem to be any other model name beyond AH250, and there are a lot of those. And I think it's an earlier model than the MK V. Anyway, pardon my confusion...
It is a mkiv,I have one exactly the same! Grrreeaaatttt

 10.
hello dudes im selling my old cab as i've moved over to warwick now and its not getting used.its a 300 watt 4x10 without horn,i bought it on this site last year off a dude called mike(good bloke) even though its showing a bit of age on the outside the drivers are still extremely tight and punchy.i've tryed to show the bits where the tolex is worn around the back but if you do want any more pictures its not a problem.its a strong unit and it weighs around 45 kilo price £200 or near offer i drive a transit and work in london so delivery can be arranged if needed curtis
Good luck with the sale,I remember selling this, great old skool trace, these really are tight and punchy cab.I still have one of these myself.Bang any amp thru em they sound great!!!!!!!!!!!!
 11.
oh dear. les is a legend, and is still making highly original and experimental music with a great band of musicians. as for the bass, i agree. carl thompson is also a true legend and builds the finest and most beautiful basses in the world. none of that poly painted j bass rubbish that swamps the market. sad to hear two really great human beings being rubbished like that due to personal tastes. check out carls you tube channel (o'connord).
+1,whats wrong with weird and whacky anyway? 2 rules in playin.Rule one, there are no rules.Rule two, follow rule one.A great drummer once told me that.
 12.
burman, indeed! gotta love burman. you up for any trades on this mate?
Yeh,no probs,what have you got?
 13. It sounds great through anything, played it through a 4x8 and a 4x10,both sound amazing.Crank the volume up above about 6 on the dial and you get the most amazing break up that no pedal can give you,and its light too.No hum either, bullet proof build, you really need one, lol.
 14. Bump, may have sold the cab if anyone after the head for £150?
 15. Mmm mm,that is one gorgeous bass.I really would love one of his 4 string designs.Note to self, sell gear NOW!Did you have to wait long?
 16.
That's prob the only Jazz styled bass other than the GB Spitfire that I've ever loved. Beautiful finish!
Ha ha,thats really weird, nearly bought a Spitfire, they are very nice too
 17.
Looks great! Is there any particular reason that the black finish extends over the neck at the bottom?
Not really, seen a couple of other Neusers and they where the same, its just how they are.Sunburst finish was an option.Seen one without but it didnt look quite as classic if you know what I mean.
 18. Just another couple, the beautifully curved, crafted headstock with semi sunk machine headsis a really nice touch, and the wood grain is gorgeous! No sound clips actually, only recordings were live with a hand held,so not much cop really.Must get some!
 19.
Absolutely, pickups, strings and the pre-amp of course if it's active. Oh and the player too;)
+1 Bar After setting up a bass ie truss rod bridge height and intonation and a set of decent strings, pups are the single most important parts to upgrade, preamp too if your active. The rest of the bass costs are the woods used and hardware but as long as it stays in tune and the bridge is adjustable I would put a well set up cheap bass against a poorly maintained expensive one.Point to make I bought an amp recently and on collection I tested it with the guys Wal,old strings very high action and crackling electronics. If I it didnt have the make on the headstock I would of thought it was a piece of c**p.My point is,Pick ups,yes but the rest needs to be set up well too,no matter how cheap ( or expensive )
 20.
Winding on the OT for a line out/DI so it gets the power stage goodness. 2xKT88 power section, so it is a ~100w and will drive, but with KT88 flavour (this is doable, but unusual, make a little market space for yourself there). Individual bias on these two valve (only one extra pot) so don't have to mess with matching. My Ashdown valve head has a feature so that the VU on the front acts as a bias meter, that would cover the above post. Accessible pre valves for valve rolling. No avoiding modern feature that are better just because it isn't how old amps were done (like using toroidal transformers, because they are plain better, even though they don't look like drakes/partridges). Tone stack bypass. Maybe a tone stack other than a Fender type, that would be cool, although the Fender type works great for bass, even Orange are sticking it on their amps, and only scooping the midrange isn't always fun.
+1 on this.2 KT88s,access to biasing etc ala the ashdown idea, using a VU,bass mid and treble plus bypass.DI out and thats that.Dont wanna run pre too hot, nothing worse than no clean head room like oranges, unless you really want that.
 21. A few more pics
 22. Eventually got some decent pics of my Neuser Cloudburst, pure unadulterated euro trash.Beautifully crafted, lovely 9 piece laminate thru neck, carved, contoured body, ala warwick but better.Gold plated hardware, bart pre an pups.Ebony board, deep cut easy access 24 fret and an action that I dont believe you could find any lower. The craftsmen ship is A1.Hard pushed to find better.Only one small thing, used Nitro laquer and some cracking in the finish but only slight.Made in 98 it really is on of the nicest Jazz style basses around.Down side. Its heavy!!
