I have just got what I think is the perfect amp/cab combination I have had quite a few in my short playing career including some of the lightest and some of the heaviest and expensive tackle... suffice to say the Trace gear I have just got from Matt (Overwater#1) is the sweetest sounding and easiest to control gear I have ever played through. I have always wondered why players rave about Trace gear so much and now I know. Just wanted to share P.S. Matt is a gent and a great guy to deal with
I love trace amps and cabs, bought my first one when I got my first monthly pay pack in 93,jeeps was it that long ago,a series 6 ah130.I still got it.Done me proud over the years.Just got it back from my 20 year old nephew who's "borrowed" it 3 years ago.Never ever let me down. Now play a ah500 12 1048h and fairly rare 4x8 trace, sounds great.Add yours to the trace porn thread
Is the P pup in the J/P part of the original design? (a look under the pickguard will tell) I've never seen a pup's pole pieces be so out of alignment to the strings like that before. .... even on a Fender.
Ha ha,yeh definately original,as stated by another observer, its due to the neck width, also it seems an original scratch plate, standard one would be too big for the neck pocket, also the bell plate is a different shape to a fender one, another hand made item like the neck plate, like chrome brass, heavy!!! -

Hi there, trying to find any info on these.I am always impulse buying any bass if I have spare cash or time to overhaul.Have these 2 I got no info on.First up is Corley J/P style bass.Guessing jap due to the neck profile nut measurement 44mm nut to 58mm at widest point same as aria SB's and its longer than my Sb700! 1220mm.Yowzer.34" scale, its also got 23 frets! Slightly neck heavy due to the massive fender style headstock, schaller 3d bridge and machine heads, think the bridge pup is a Di Marzio, not sure about the p type but both have been dipped to stop microphonics. One of the best jazz body profiles I have seen, very slim and nicely sculptured. Next is a les Paul Triumph style bass, made in Japan.Semi hollow body,30" scale, ultra low action, pick ups are like humbuckers,2 vol,2 tone and coil taps.Amazing big thumpy sound then coil tapped almost jazz style.Think its early seventies.Anyone any ides on either? Stuck it next to an aria and a jazz for an idea of size. Will load the Les paul ones on soon.Any info would be cool. -

Ashdown Peacemaker Custom 100
mikhay77 replied to Mr. Foxen's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Designed by Dave Green of Matamp and handbuilt in the UK. Excess of vintage amps means this is a bit spare. Comes with a cover. £750
My brother has one of these, bought it from our guitarist, point to point wiring, partridge design transformers.Dont see many of em,they are a fantastic amps, highly underated and worth more than the usual mesa's/hi watts etc.Great design, especially the biasing.Quite superb, Bump -
Bump, this may go up for sale, funds needed for a car, maybe able to avoid it.Anyway, still a fantastic and unique bass.

I like to be felt and heard (giggity) I used to use 2 4x10 1048h trace cabs, great sound, now use a trace 4x10 and trace 4x8,best sound I have had.Dont do 15s or 18s,too woolly and not enough definition for me,this rig really cuts through the mix brilliantly, the 4x8 really does kick the high end out and the 4x10 punches the lows.Great for a stage mix,any more bottom end normally comes from the PA. 8x10s rule for me.
The V6 sounds a bit more "smoother" than the V8. The V6 is more a "Bluesman", while the V8 is more a "Rocker". Both amps got a lot of growl, and sounds perfect. I think, the V6 is more a allrounder...
Cheers for that, not many people are in the position to compare so appreciate that.Only problem is,I play rock so the V8 is the one.Oh well, one day, lol.Mind you,V6 and trace 4x12 on ebay at mo,damn what can I sell! Ha ha.
Newer shots:
Yummy, nice pair, bout the only trace I aint played through, would love to have a jam through either of those.Soooo tempted to go valve!Do they have a similar sound or is the V8 just untouchable?
-
I know its a long shot but just fitted these brand new Jv's about 2 months ago and they sound fantastic like old school jazz pups (does exactly what is says on the box) but my other basses are loaded with more modern sounding emgs or barts so hence the need to trade, they are quick connects so would just be a matter of plug and play,Pm me,dont think theres the need for pics? They look like jazz pups, poles showing and with emg on them.Cheers.

No bids for a Hohner 6 string bass
mikhay77 replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I have had 2 Hohner B 4 strings in the past, nice through neck, super low action, emg pups and circuit with active on and off and adjustable boost,B dropper comes in handy on the steinberger bridge which also has fine tuners (probably not on this 6er) but all in all easily equal to any 600 quid or so instrument I have played so if this is anything like the 4s its a snip,(Mmmm do I need a 6?) -
Looks like it's quite heavy. Then again I suppose you're not too bothered about heavy rigs lolz
Ha ha,yeh tiz heavy but thats were the tranny comes in handy,Ps thats not a camp roadie!

Forgot about the trace porn thread, just posted it on show us your rig. Here's mine, moved on some other trace gear so now this is my main gigging rig 1048h+trace 4x8+ ah500 12 smx.It is simply brilliant, the condition and sound of this rig is fantastic, nice highs due to 4x8 but not too harsh due to not much horn used (ooh err) All driven by a classic 500watt trace head with pre valve, mint.Stick my Neuser cloudburst or Bilodeau (left) custom Jazz or Aria SB through it and takes them all to a higher level.A fellow bass player buddy but a double bass through it on saturday,ha he is hooked.
