  1. Ooooh! - here's the isolated bass for Primus - Jerry was a Race Car Driver............. Les Claypool was on some different planet, surely.......๐Ÿ˜ฒ Really, really worth a listen if you're not familiar with this.
  2. Their presentation is more than a bit annoying at times - it's really not that funny guys - but the content is interesting enough. Seemed like they were going to slag the song off at the beginning, but then went on to discuss just how clever it was - but i expect that was the production plan all along so as to get those clicks and eyeballs ............
  3. There's also this........ more brass, more funk, more bass solo, more Cory, you get the idea.
  4. No !! You can't do that - we're all waiting with bated breath for the next instalment......... (Cue Archers music - rumpy pumpy diddly doo, rumpy pumpy doo dah.............etc)
  5. It all sounds very British and deliciously bonkers...... Must admit, maybe I'm a bit jealous - seems like you'll have some great after dinner stories to tell from this experience. ๐Ÿ˜
  6. Not usually a massive fan of Dirty Loops - their sound is too over produced for my taste - but here they get together with Cory Wong (usually with Vulfpeck) and knock 'Thriller' into a previously unknown dimension. Enjoy. ๐Ÿ™‚
  7. Jeeez! - OK, doesn't sound particularly remarkable by modern standards, but it's 1969 and he's 18 years old. His phrasing and style was so way ahead of the general game at that time, a pointer to the future.
  8. - I think she was at her best with that line up - I've never understood why she dropped it in favour of Jackson on bass, Simon Philips on drums and no guitarist. 'The Fuse' on guitar gave the band an element of spontaneity which I think the later line up lacked. ๐Ÿ˜ Other opinions are available !
  9. Is this reply to the Morrissey wannabe the work of a BCer ??? If so, you've summed it up beautifully. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘
  10. I think this is from the same place..........
  11. I could have written this myself, my friend. I've been there so many times with bands over the years I know exactly where you're at ! ๐Ÿ˜
  12. Errr..........yes -so that'll be you and me, and, oh, maybe about 99% of other BCers ! ๐Ÿ™‚
  13. I feel for you mate, these things happen to us all. Finding the right people to play in a band is always the No 1 issue. In my experience, potential musos for semi pro bands are likely to fall into 4 categories: A. Bl**dy good โ€“ and they know it. Likely to disappear at a moments notice if they get a sniff of something better. B. Good, but 'mature' -and they stopped listening to music around 1980 and havenโ€™t progressed since. C. Good, but completely flaky and unreliable โ€“ chances of them turning up at a gig (a) on the correct day (b) with all their gear in working order and (c) having learnt all the material = zero D. Absolutely tone deaf apart from one or two show-off party pieces they always trot out. I hope you manage to find better. ๐Ÿ™‚
  14. If someone asks you what 'digging in' means, just show them the fingerstyle playing on this. โค๏ธ
  15. Whole bunch of lawsuits here....... Still, they can afford it.
  16. Their arrangement of Midnight at the Oasis was sublime -a really essential cover to learn for any aspiring bass player ๐Ÿ™‚
  17. I think you'll find them in the next file along from "Americans who didn't realise that Spinal Tap were a parody band"
  18. Thanks for this Binky, absolutely excellent - creative, tongue in cheek, super clever. ๐Ÿ‘ The track Moon and Moron is pure Cardiacs ! Just have a look at the on screen lyrics in this video for the opening track - it doesn't get better than this ! ๐Ÿ˜
  19. Russ Stableford was the session bass player used for Everlasting Love. There was a big fuss made by the tabloid media at the time when it was revealed that none of the band had actually played on the record, it was all session players. Well, who would have thought ? ๐Ÿ˜ I played with Love Affair for a while in the mid '70's, (I think I was their 13th bass player !) so I know that song backwards. Despite the appalling quality, the extracted bass line that Woodinblack has posted does sound like the original to me. And this really is a song where muted pick playing is essential !
  20. Some information for the less informed, like myself - http://aws2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/Gear-Tech/en-us/What-the-Heck-is-PLEK.aspx
  21. Well, surely they're harder on rounds ? - I know I'd certainly find them harder just because of the nature of the strings - coarse and edgy as opposed to smooth and silky. Mind you, seems some people refer to glissando when what they're actually doing is hammering on a semitone - slightly different effect IMHO. You do a little gliss right at the end of your recording - excellent by the way! - and I can't work out whether you're using a sliding gliss or hammering. Sounds good either way ! ๐Ÿ™‚ PS Ernie Ball cobalts are my favourite flats ๐Ÿ‘
  22. Thanks for posting this Ped - a new listen for me, and gold plated A1 stuff. Singer's phrasing reminds me of iamddb. Can't find the name of the bass player, but an absolute master of discreet glissando and ghost notes, and a great ad for the PJ sound, which I love. Here's another track:
  23. - That's a brilliant idea ! - I'd certainly watch Rick doing a series on that theme. Let the pain begin................
  24. What's this ? Now someones autotuned Sarah Brand's track ! ๐Ÿ˜
